1 Mdel Library Industrial Utilities The mdel library Industrial Utilities is a tlbx cntaining the cmmn utilities used in the pwer engineering industry: Cmpressed air generatin device Heat pump/chiller Gas turbine Gas engine Biler (bimass, fuel) Fully cmpatible with the SimulatinX Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Thermal-Fluid standard libraries, this library is intended fr simulating the behavir f cmplete pwer plants and ther technical systems. The bjective f such a mdeling is t evaluate the glbal perfrmances f a system: At an early develpment stage: T test different cnfiguratins r technlgies fr each f the utilities. During the explitatin: T simulate failures and pllutin f the different systems. The library is divided int three main libraries with several sub-libraries: Elements Assemblies Tls Flw Resistances Cnstraints Wrk and Pwer Machines Air Treatment Heat Exchange One-Phase Heat Exchangers Tw-Phase Heat Exchangers Cmbined Heat Exchangers Accessries Pwer and Heat Generatin Heat Pump Cmpressed Air Heat Pump Parameterizatin The Elements cntain basic mdels f cmpnents (such as resistances, cmpressrs, heat exchanger and sensrs) that can be used t build detailed mdels f technical systems. The Assemblies cntain pre-defined mdels cnsisting f basic elements and can be used as stand-alne r in mre cmplex systems. With the Tls fr example parameters fr heat pumps r refrigeratin cycles can be fund fr given key data. 2 Page f 0 Already during the (pre)design phase, engineers can easily mdel cmplete pwer plants and their supply netwrks within SimulatinX. Different mdules can be selected frm cmprehensive, ready-made tlbxes and assembled in a single mdel. Users are able t quickly see the impact f the subsystems parameters n the glbal perfrmance: energy efficiency, cmbustible cnsumptin and pllutant emissins. They can als change the architecture and technlgies quickly, e.g. exchange a -stage heat pump fr a -stage ne. In this way, engineers make a mre prfund chice f architecture with better specificatins f the subsystems. During the peratinal phase, the mdel previusly built and validated by engineers can be used as a virtual simulatr. Thus, technicians are able t practice failure events, e.g. cmpressr crrsin, turbcmpressr kncking, chking f flw, external leakage f a heat pump r cmpressed air pllutin. They can tune different subsystems as in reality in rder t safely cntrl the glbal perfrmances f the system.
