4 DuPont Zytel PLUS nylon At 210-degree temperatures it stays tougher longer. It s easier to process than other specialty nylons. It s the innovative plastic that helps eliminate costly post-production steps of aluminum and the design constraints and weight of steel. THE UNDER-HOOD PLASTIC THAT STANDS UP TO HOT OIL, GRAVEL, ROAD SALT, COOLANT AND MORE

5 DuPont Zytel PLUS nylon the Breakthrough Plastic that Won t Break Through. Long-term performance despite exposure to hot oil, hot air, calcium chloride and other aggressive automotive chemicals. Processibility and Added Performance to subtract weight and cost

6 DuPont Zytel PLUS nylon the Breakthrough Plastic that Won t Break Through. Compared with Metal, DuPont Zytel PLUS: Invites design freedom Enables part integration Can improve underhood component packaging Simplifies assembly Improves overall component performance Reduces weight Significantly reduces cost Processibility and Added Performance to subtract weight and cost

7 DuPont Zytel PLUS nylon the Breakthrough Plastic that Won t Break Through. DuPont Zytel PLUS: Outperforms traditional nylon products on the market today Can double the life of thermoplastic components exposed to hot, chemically aggressive and humid environments Invites cost-savings in design by allowing thinner-wall designs. Maintains high flow and ease of processing expected from nylon to help manage manufacturing costs. Creates the opportunity to potentially replace some specialty polymers, while simplifying processing. Processibility and Added Performance to Subtract weight and cost

DuPont SHIELD Technology Science Driven Performance, Exclusively from DuPont DuPont Zytel PLUS nylon gets its ability to withstand long-term exposure to heat and chemicals from DuPont SHIELD Technology, only from DuPont. DuPont Zytel PLUS nylon Withstands 4,000 hours of exposure to hot air Withstands more than 3,000 hours exposure to hot oil and 3000 hours exposure to hot automotive coolant Lasts 2 to 3 times longer than other nylons exposed to aggressive chemicals such as road salt and hot environments Retains most of its weld strength after 1000 hours at 210 degrees C, while traditional materials have dropped to almost zero. 8

DuPont SHIELD Technology Science Driven Performance, Exclusively from DuPont 9 DuPont SHIELD Technology combines several innovations, including a new polymer backbone, polymer modifications and a special set of additives, to enhance many performance characteristics. The exact combination and composition of chemistries are optimized for each product based on the targeted application. Research is underway to apply these innovations to additional engineering plastics

DuPont SHIELD Technology Science Driven Performance, Exclusively from DuPont Zytel PLUS is a family of new products based on DuPont SHIELD Technology which provides outstanding resistance to the harmful effects of high temperature, hot oil, automotive coolants and road salt. These products retain excellent mechanical properties for twice as long as current materials while demonstrating exceptional processability and superior surface appearance. 16 DuPont Renewably Sourced Materials Broadest Portfolio for Engineering Polymers Sorona EP Thermoplastic Polymer DuPont Sorona EP thermoplastic polymer is similar to the highperformance characteristics of current PBT materials. PTT is generic designation. Current feedstock is corn but will change to non-food source. 16 Hytrel RS Thermoplastic Elastomer DuPont Hytrel RS, thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), offers the flexibility and elastic recovery of rubbers, the strength of plastics and ease of processing by conventional thermoplastic methods. Current feedstock is from biomass. Zytel RS 6,10 and 10,10 Long Chain Polyamides Comprises all products based on 6,10 and 10,10 including copolymers, alloys, and reinforced grades. Current feedstock is sebacic acid derived from caster beans, a non-food crop that requires no maintenance to grow.
