2 Smart communities small cities, towns, neighbourhoods and villages that reduce their energy demand and generate their own power from renewable sources should play an increasingly important role across the world and the market for small- and community-scale biomass gasification systems that convert biomass into heat, electricity, or liquid fuels is developing steadily. Gasification is a flexible, reliable, and clean energy technology that can turn a variety of low-value feedstocks into high-value products, help reduce communities dependence on fossil fuels, and can provide a clean alternative source of heat, electricity and liquid fuels. Micro Energy has developed over the last 9 years a unique set of technologies and know-how that allows for small scale biomass gasification for the comparatively efficient production of heat, power and liquid fuels. The company is established within the Japanese and Asian bio-energy market and developed a broad array of contacts to potential markets and research institutions. Our knowledgeable engineers provide for an abundant source of ideas for technological solutions and technological applications. Micro Energy is offering the possibilities for disengaging small regional community local economies from high-grade energy consumption via the sustainable use of biomass resources to generate heat, electricity and motive power using Micro Energy gasification system. 3 HOT SYNGAS SYNGAS Gasification is a process that uses a combination of heat, pressure and chemical reactions to convert biomass and other hydrocarbons into a combustible syngas that, similarly to natural gas, can be used to produce electricity, heat and liquid fuels. This thermochemical technology, developed over a century ago, is the focus of renewed interest in the energy market due to rising fuel prices and international focus on the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. MICROENERGY BIOMASS GASIFICATION AND SYNGAS PRODUCTION SYSTEM COMPLIMENTARY PROCESSES OPTION 1: SYNGAS FOR ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND HEAT BIOMASS STEAM ELECTRICAL HEATING HEAT RECOVERY GAS PURIFICATION POWER GENERATION SYNGAS CLEAN SYNGAS 1 rpm GASIFIER T C ASH FISCHER- TROPSCH SYNTHESIS POWER GENERATION ELECTRICAL HEATING OFF GAS ASH HANDLING LIQUID FUELS OPTION 2: SYNGAS FOR LIQUID FUELS AND COGENERATION OF ELECTRICITY AND HEAT The Micro Energy Gasification Unit is based on the concept of a rotating slowly allothermal drum gasifier operated under negative pressure of -0.01kPa in order to prevent gases from leaking the gasifier. The gasifier is heated electrically to a temperature of about 1,050 degrees Celsius and super-heated steam (800 ) is used as the gasification agent. The resulting raw gas is mostly tar free (under 14mg/Nm3) and comes with an hydrogen (H2) to carbon monoxide (CO) ratio of up to two to one ideal for a Fischer Tropsch synthesis process [(2 n +1) H2 + n CO C n H(2 n +2) + n H2O]. This high quality raw syngas does not need further hydrogen enrichment and therefore makes full use of the carbon contained in the syngas with no further efficiency losses. Though it is the gasification system heated by electrically, the Cold Gas Efficiency achieves over 85%. The high gas quality received from the gasifier with its low methane and tar content allows for easy gas treatment. The gas cleaning section consists mainly out of a Venturi scrubber, an active carbon unit (for the removal of contaminants such as sulphur, heavy metals, etc.), catalytical oxygen removal (2H 2 + O 2 -> 2H 2 O / < 1% O 2 in the syngas) and H 2 O condenser. 4 WHAT IS GOOD ABOUT MICRO ENERGY GASIFICATION SYSTEM 1. Our 2.5 ton per day of biomass input Micro Energy Gasification System can produce up to 150 Nm3/hour of syngas which can generate up to 3.6 Mwh of electricity or produce up to 450 litres per day of liquid fuel along with generation of 125 kw of electricity and 7 Gcal per day of heat. 2. Unlike our main competitors, who are concentrated on building industrial scale biomass gasification facilities, Micro Energy strategy is focusing on provision small businesses, communities, municipalities, villages with the small scale environmental friendly gasification system that can turn a variety of low-value feedstocks via Micro Energy gasification system and complimentary systems of power generation and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis into high-value products such as heat, electricity and liquid fuels that help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels as well as to solve biomass and waste management issues; 3. Compare to others our gasification system achieves exceptional syngas quality with its low methane, nitrogen and tar content, high concentration of hydrogen (H2) (more than 50%) and with hydrogen (H2) to carbon monoxide (CO) ratio of up to 2:1 which is ideal for a Fischer Tropsch synthesis. You can add extra units in order to scale up your plant capacity and to make plant availability higher since it is possible to still operate the other units whilst carrying out maintenance or repairs on an individual unit. Different units can be optimized for different feedstocks in order to use a mix of resources. Jersey: 1 st Floor, 17 Esplanade, St, Helier, Jersey JE1 1WT, Channel Islands
