3 Product Product description: Gamle Mursten Facade System with brick shells cut from recycled bricks. The facade systems include a panel of either fiber cement, rockwool or cork.the facade system is declared excluding mortar and screws, as these are not part of the produced product. Glue as well as loose brick shells for attachment after mounting of the facade system are included, as these are part of the product. The Gamle Mursten Facade System is used as a building envelope and/or insulation of facades. The brick shells are mounted on the type of panel or insulation needed for the building project. Product specification: The types of panel that the bricks ₂ are mounted on are either fiber cement, rockwool or cork: : Power panel H O, 12.5 mm Rockwool: Facadebatts, 150 mm Cork: Expanded insulation corkboard (ICB), 40 mm The main product components are shown in the tables below. This constitutes 100% weight of the declared product. 1 m² facade system Material Weight % of declared product Brick shells, from recycled bricks 68.6 Panel: 28.6 Glue Packaging 2.8 Kg per declared unit Wooden pallets Plastic film LCA: Calculation rules Declared unit: 1 m² facade system Illustration 1 m² facade system with 150 mm Rockwool Material Weight % of declared product Illustration Brick shells, from recycled bricks 64.2 Panel: Rockwool 33.2 Glue Packaging 2.6 Kg per declared unit Wooden pallets Plastic film m² facade system with 40 mm cork Material Weight % of declared product Brick shells, from recycled bricks 83.7 Panel: Cork 12.8 Glue 3.4 Packaging Kg per declared unit Wooden pallets Plastic film Technical data: Per declareret unit: 1 m² facade system Only back panel Product - type of panel Converted to kg Heat resistance 12.5 mm 12.5 kg/m² 0,0912 m²k/w 150 mm Rockwool 15.5 kg/m² 4.29 m²k/w 40 mm cork 4.6 kg/m² 3.5 m²k/w Market: Europe Illustration The facade system is not covered by a harmonised technical specification. Reference service life: Reference service life is in accordance with not declared, as this EPD is based on a craddle-to-gate LCA. System boundary: This EPD is based on a cradle-to-gate LCA, in which 100 weight-% has been accounted for. Data quality: The data represents the production of 1 m² facade system, with the stated types of panels from the production site located in Svendborg, Denmark. Product specific data are based on average values collected in the period 2017, delivered by Gamle Mursten. During the collection of background data, only facade products with one type of panel was produced, but the production data is representative per m² produced wall system, regardless of the type of panel. Packaging per m² is also the same, when correcting for the thickness of the panels. Variation: Gluing during installation at the customer s is done manually, and the consumption will, thus, vary some, but there is no difference in the amount of glue for the different types of panels. Background data are based on EPD's, as well as GaBi databases 2017, and are less than 10 years old. Cut-off criteria: All major raw materials and all of the essential energy is included. A few production processes for raw materials and energy flows with very low levels (<1%) are not included. This cut-off rule does not apply for hazardous materials and substances. Allocation: Allocation is made in accordance with the provisions of EN Incoming energy and water and waste production in-house is ascribed based on the direct physical correlation, where this is known, and otherwise allocation is based on physical properties, where the difference in revenue is low. Effects of primary production of recycled materials are allocated to the main product in which the material was used. The recycling process and transportation of the material is allocated to this analysis. 3

4 LCA: Results For the results for global warming, the uptake and storage of biogenic CO 2 in the cork is reflected in A1-A3 and thus differs from the other types of panels. This CO 2 content will be released again at the end-of-life stage, if e.g. incinerating the product. Correspondingly, there is a small uptake of CO 2 in the wooden pallets used as transport packaging, on 5.11E-1 kg CO 2 -eq.
