1 Bioremediation of Sandy Soiled, Vegetated Area Contaminated by Oily Floodwaters Aug 2013 Overview: On August 3, an extremely heavy rainstorm fell on a Colorado natural gas processing facility causing flood waters to wash through the plant and deposit lube oil onto the area adjacent to the facility s pad. TERRADIS treated the hydrocarbon contaminated area next to the facility with a two product protocol, using a power washer, hand held rakes, and a crew of five. The remediation of this contaminated area was completed at LESS THAN HALF THE COST OF THE ESTIMATE TO COMPLETE THE JOB BY THE MORE COMMON/TRADITIONAL METHOD OF REMOVING, HAULING AND DISPOSING OF THE AFFECTED SOILS. Products Used: 1. SW Bio-Surfactant Biodegradable, water soluble surfactant 2. Terminator-HSD Soil Cleaner Microbe based product For Information contact: contact@terradis.com 1

8 Bioremediation of Sandy Soiled, Vegetated Area Contaminated by Floodwaters Aug 2013 Summary of Remediation Project Results: 50 separate, visible stained hydrocarbon contaminated areas ranging from 1 25 sq ft were remediated where NO VISIBLE STAINING REMAINED. 10 separate, heavily stained areas were remediated to the point that very little visible staining remained. The entire 4200 sq ft of oily flood water impacted area was remediated using the two product protocol. NOTE THAT THE TWO AREAS OF HEAVIEST CONTAMINATION SHOWN IN THIS CASE STUDY HAD PUDDLES OF OIL THAT WERE TREATED IN PLACE ON 8/8/2013 For Information contact: contact@terradis.com 8

9 Conclusions: The combination treatment protocol of Terradis Terminator-HSD Soil Cleaner and Gold Crew s SW Bio-Surfactant were highly effective in reducing hydrocarbon contamination over a 43 day period. The remediation of the 4200 sq ft area was completed at LESS THAN HALF THE COST OF THE ESTIMATE TO COMPLETE THE JOB BY THE MORE COMMON/TRADITIONAL METHOD OF REMOVING, HAULING AND DISPOSING OF THE AFFECTED SOILS. Remediation of the area actively continues beyond the 9/20/2013 documentation of results. The bacteria colonies in Terminator-HSD Soil Cleaner will thrive and consume the available hydrocarbon until it is eliminated. A more rapid remediation, and reduction in visible staining, could have been accomplished if a weekly application of Terminator-HSD Soil Cleaner had been instituted. 10 Bioremediation of Sandy Soiled, Vegetated Area Contaminated by Floodwaters Aug 2013 Remediation Summary: Lube oil from three compressor engines/buildings was washed from their concrete pads and flooded the adjacent facility yard. The facility berm broke, allowing the flood water to spread out over approximately 4200 sq ft of sandy, sparsely vegetated soil visibly hydrocarbon stained areas were identified within the 4200 sq ft affected area. Heavily contaminated areas ranged from 1 25 sq ft in area. The contaminant had soaked into the sandy soil, although the three most heavily contaminated areas had pools of hydrocarbon remaining when the remediation took place on Aug. 8. The SW solution was used to wash the vegetation, soak the hydrocarbon stained areas, and wet all surfaces within the 4200 sq ft area touched by the flood water. The entire area was treated using the Terradis two step, SW and Terminator Soil Cleaner protocol. The remediated area was monitored on a weekly basis, and the stained areas were periodically worked with a rake and moistened with water. Reduction in visible staining across the entire area was documented with weekly visits, and weekly pictures were taken of 6 of the most heavily stained areas. 11 Bioremediation Products Used: Terminator-HSD Soil Cleaner is a blend of highly concentrated microbes, proprietary nutrients and absorbents. TERMINATOR-HSD s proprietary nutrients stimulate microbial appetite and growth, resulting in accelerated remediation of a spill or oil stained area. TERMINATOR-HSD s proprietary absorbent attracts and binds hydrocarbons, holding them in place during biodegradation. Once absorbed, contaminates will not migrate as they bio-remediate. The microbes in this easy to use, dry powder product are grown specifically to biodegrade petroleum organic compounds including motor oil, crude oil, gasoline, hydraulic fluid and diesel, as well as all types of synthetic oils and lubes. Terminator is safe, non-toxic and easy to use. The major by-products from the biodegradation process are carbon dioxide and water Gold Crew s SW is an environmentally friendly cleaning agent designed to provide the effectiveness of a solvent, the gentleness of a dishwashing detergent and the bioenhancing ability of a bio-surfactant. It is used effectively and economically to mitigate hazards and environmental impacts from a wide range of hydrocarbon based materials including lube oil, crude oil, gasoline, hydraulic fluid or any petroleum hydrocarbon. SW is designed for use in field environments where both the cleaning agent and resulting effluent must be environmentally sensitive. It is ideal for use on soil, rocky areas, equipment yards, tanks, wet-wells, floors, equipment, bilge areas and more. SW contains no dangerous caustics, d-limonene or solvents. Unlike many harsh degreasers, SW doesn t move the oily problem from one place to another, it removes and micro-emulsifies the oil, enhancing it s biodegradability. SW is very effective for use in conjunction with spills on navigable waterways. Gold Crew's surfactants water-solubilize and desorb the oils entrained in vegetation as well as strip the oil from various cobbles and bulkheads. GC-SW then allows the oil to release with the wash water. Gold Crew SW s surfactants keep the oil buoyant and available for recovery. What makes GC-SW unique is that the Gold Crew surfactants also prevents the oil from sticking to vegetation or other obstacles, including equipment, allowing for a quicker and less intrusive cleanup.
