7 GWP and ACWUA cooperation milestones Cooperation MOU signed in December 2010 (Arab Water Week) MENA water network established in July 2011 (in cooperation with GIZ) Draft work plan First follow up meeting and update on work plan (back-to-back) GWP annual meeting in November 2011 Preliminary matchmaking workshop between GWP and ACWUA members (back-to-back) with ACWUA 4 th BP conference, Sharm Al Sheikh GWP annual conference, Berlin, March 2012 ACWUA 5 th BP conference, Muscat, Utilities perspective on water resources management

8 Need Assessment ACWUA had conducted Needs Assessment study for the utility members to find out the priority areas and the needs for each utility To helpin establishing the TWGs and formulating the topics to be studied within each Technical Working Group Results reflected the thematic areas of priority according to the utilities: Guided the formation of the TWGs in terms of areas of interest Setting priorities for the TWGs. **Complete analysis report is available at GWP Secretariat

9 Specific Needs After the matchmaking meeting held between ACWUA and GWP members (back-to-back with ACWUA 4 th BP conference- Sharm Al Sheikh) Some ACWUA members sent specific project ideas they want to share and seek cooperation with GWP members

12 Egypt 1. Establishment of "Internal Audit Department to assure monitoring, evaluation and good management of all entities assigned to the water supply objectives 2. Decentralized wastewater treatment systems and technologies Lebanon 1. Assessment to install water metering systems

13 Yemen 1. Establishment of local water meter service center 2. Analytical and hydraulic study for the existing water network in Ibb city 3. Assessment study for a digital monitoring and control system for the facilities. 4. Study for disinfection system for water wells in Ibb city (not chlorine gas) 5. Prepare a study to change the direct pumping process to indirect pumping process
