IP6X test 1.1 Test procedure 1) The luminaire is suspended outside the dust chamber and operated at rated supply voltage until operating temperature is achieved. 2) The luminaire, whilst still operating, is placed with the minimum disturbance in the dust chamber. The chamber shall contain 2 kg of powder for every cubic metre of its volume. 3) The fan or blower causing the talcum powder to be in suspension is switched on. 4) After 1 min, the luminaire is switched off and allowed to cool for 3 h whilst the talcum powder remains in suspension. 1.2 Evaluation of test results After completion of the tests, no deposit of talcum powder inside enclosure for dust-tight luminaire. 1.3 Test results: Sample No. Observations Verdict S No deposit of talcum powder inside enclosure for dust-tight luminaire. IPX6 test 2.1 Test procedure 1) Normal operation at rated supply voltage until operating temperature is achieved. 2) The luminaire is switched off and immediately subjected to a water jet for 3 min from all directions by means of a hose having a nozzle with the shade.the nozzle shall be held 3 m away form the sample. 3) The water pressure at the nozzle shall be adjusted to achieve a water flow rate of 100 L/min±5%(approximately 100 KN/m 2 ). 2.2 Evaluation of test results 1) No trace of water on current-carrying parts or SELV parts where the voltage under load exceeds 12 V r.m.s. or 30 V ripple-free dc. or on insulation where it could become a hazard for the user or surroundings. 2) For luminaire without drain holes, where shall be no water entry. 3) After completion of the tests, test samples should withstand electric strength test. 2.3 Test results 1) After the test, no water entered in the luminaire. 2) Electric strength test results: Test voltage Test time Sample No. Between Observations Verdict (V ac) (min) Input and metal No flashover and S Pass enclosure breakdown
