CII NATIONAL AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ENERGY MANAGEMENT 2018 TCS-SAHYADRI PARK, PUNE Ajay Deshmukh Sr Manager Tech Admin Rajendra Takavale Asst Manager - ESHS #

Brief introduction on Company/Unit Tata Consultancy Services Ltd is India s largest IT Company & Largest software exporter, with over Associates Global Presence : 169 sales offices in 49 countries, 66 Delivery Centers in 11 countries TCS Sahyadri Park: Designed at par with Gold Rated LEED standards (IGBC) 48 acres of land consists of 3 software development blocks, an administration block, 2 cafeterias, utility and recreation block Accommodate around (software professionals: 23878, Contractor Staff : 2222) ISO 9001/ 20000/27001/14001 & BS OHSAS certified campus 2

Specific Energy Consumption in last 3 years FY SEC ( KWH, FTE, 156 KWH / FTE) FY SEC ( KWH, FTE, 118 KWH / FTE) FY SEC ( KWH, FTE, 104 KWH / FTE) The whole campus was operational from 2014 In spite of increase in the occupancy for last three years (Approx. 33% Increase) we could maintain the same consumption pattern over the period of these years. Following factors helped us to maintain the consumption: Energy Performance Design Features Operational controls Equipment optimization Various energy saving initiatives such as ATCS for chillers, LED lights 3 FY FY FY SEC KWH / FTE Electricity KWH Occupancy

TCS SAHYADRI PARK ENERGY The energy contributors - FY DG-0.2% Renewable Energy- 58.5% Energy from Grid % Energy from Grid FY Renewable Energy FY DG KWH FY

ENERGY SAVING PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN FY Initiative Investment (Rs in Lakh) Energy Saving (Annual units in lakh) Cost Saving (Annual Rs in lakh) RoI (Months) Equipment Optimization and Operational controls: 1.AHU run time schedule as per project operations (Auto ON OFF) 2.Min freq set to 30 Hz from 40 Hz for VFDs 3.Sequential switching off AHUs at lunch time 4.Change of set point from 25 to 26 degree Celsius in UPS and battery rooms 5. UPS optimization Switching off one UPS from each bank Optimization of PAC for unoccupied data center: 1.Partitions and compartments to segregate hot and cold aisle in data center Immediate

ENERGY SAVING PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN FY Initiative Investment (Rs in lakh) Energy Saving (Annual units in lakh) Cost Saving (Annual Rs in lakh) RoI (Months) Chiller Plant: 1. Auto Tube Cleaning System (ATCS) for online condenser coil cleaning 2. Cooling tower water treatment with the help of Magtreat and copper ionization for scale and corrosion treatment Replacement of conventional fixtures with LED fixtures in parking and external corridors of the campus

ENERGY SAVING PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN FY Auto Tube Cleaning System (ATCS) Energy saving = 8.49 Lakh units/annum Ball Arrester Condenser Water inlet Condenser Auto Valves Control Panel Ball storage Tank 8

ENERGY SAVING PROJECTS IMPLEMENATED IN FY Magtreat and Copper Ionizer Energy Saver Polarizes (Organizes) molecule & gives water a net positive charge Copper Ion Generator #

ENERGY SAVING PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN FY Initiative Investment (Rs in lakh) Energy Saving (Annual units in lakh) Cost Saving (Annual Rs in lakh) RoI (Months) Automation of landscape irrigation (Though the initiative is for water saving, the energy is also saved through reduced operation of pumps) Replacement of conventional fixtures with LED fixtures in parking and external corridors of the campus (Inventory optimization within TCS branches The fixtures were brought from TCS Mumbai Office) NA NA 10

INNOVATIVE PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN FY Initiative Before After Replacement of AHU to achieve environmental conditions as per TCS work environment guidelines ** Energy conservation and improved work environment conditions The work area temp was around 27 Deg Celsius, causing many complaints of discomfort. Standard temp was achieved with increased chiller operations by reducing the set point The circulation pumps at building level were operated on higher frequency Higher frequency setting for VFD The vertical AHU with higher capacity blower for increased CFM Achieved desired temp and comfort to occupants without reducing chiller set point. Approx 10% of total chiller consumption units were avoided (Cost Rs. 8.8 Lakh) Limitation of existing AHU room to accommodate higher capacity AHU of similar type 11

INNOVATIVE PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN FY Initiatives Before After Water level monitoring system ( Cost 14.9Rs Lakh ) We have 7 major water storage tanks at SP with a total storage capacity of 53 Lac ltrs (including Fire tanks) Manual checking of water levels of each tank is avoided, which is prone to errors Water level sensors have been installed in the tanks to get online water tank level status. Monitoring is done through ibms system. Helps in providing online data of overall water quantity available at any given time. 12
