1 Slide 1 Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP) EUDP and RD&D within Wind Energy Programme Manager København 12. december 2016

2 Slide 2 CONTENT Introduction to the Danish Energy Technology Funding Landscape (RD&D) Public support granted over the years EUDP programme Impact Cases København 12. december 2016

3 Slide 3 The Danish policies on climate change is driven by compliance with international climate obligations, and by achieving national targets in the energy sector. Denmark is to be independent of fossil fuels by 2050 The foci of the energy policy are energy efficiency, electrification and renewable energy. The Danish government has identified a need for new technological solutions. Consequently The government supports research, development and demonstration (RD&D) directly by funding institutions and programmes. To keep in mind: The focus is not only on climate and security of supply based on non-fossil fuels it is at least as much on growth and employment

21 Slide 21 A New European Wind Atlas (NEWA) has a total budget of approx. 100 M DKK and is funded by the EC and 9 national funding agencies Why invest: The industry is still challenged by the many projects having significant discrepancies between estimated and actual production data. A wind turbine power production can be improved dramatically if the turbine is placed in the optimal range. It will become a key tool for manufacturers, developers, public authorities and decision-makers. NEWA will provide a unified high resolution and freely available data-set of wind energy resource in Europe.
