3 BRIEF INTRODUCTION 1 2 Asia Pacific Breweries have established a new brewery in Guangzhou, Huangpu District, Guangdong Province. The new brewery has its first brew in November, 2010 and has an initial annual production apacity of 1 million hl. The brewhouse is designed 12 brews of 300 hl per day. APB has awarded the turnkey contract to Lehui. The scope of the contract covers the raw materials handling system, the fermentation shop, brew house, filtration system, water treatment system and all indoor and outdoor pipeline corridors. The automation and control system chosen for this brewery is the recognised Lehui BrewTech automation and control system. The design, manufacturing, and installation & commissioning were all done according to high level European standards. This brewery is at the moment one of the most advanced and modern high-end breweries and it is recognised as an important production base for APB premier brands as Heineken and Tiger. The successful completion of this project - on time installed and commissioned - demonstrates the excellent quality of Lehui products and highly developed and inter nationally recognised Lehui turnkey project management. 4 RAW MATERIALS HANDLING SYSTEM 3 4 To meet the capacity demand the raw material handling system is designed to handle 6,500 kg/h of malt. The system designed and delivered by Lehui include malt intake pit, spark detecting system, vibration mesh, automated dust aspirating system, advanced hammer milling system, and integrated measuring system all controlled by the Lehui BrewTech automation and control system. A broad safety philosophy has been applied in the design of the brewery. For example, the spark detection system will stop the milling Installation if any spark in the area is detected. The inlet and outlet of all elevating and conveying systems are designed with an air seal unit, segmenting the treatment system from the environment. In the event of a dust explosion, only the affected segment will be damaged, limiting damage to the total system and the environment. The upper, middle and lower segments are equipped with easily accessible emergency buttons where the operator can shut down the system through the nearest emergency button in case of emergency. 5 BREWHOUSE SYSTEM 5 6 The brew house is designed to allow 12 brews per day of 300 hl. Pure malt is produced while no rice cooker is required for this process. The Lehui mash filter technology is chosen and a modern high performance thermal energy recovery system has been integrated in the brew house based on an atmospheric pressure non-spill boiling system. and liquid levels. All interlocks, alarms, curves, reports, and search functions are available in the system and logged for trending and reference. The brew house has been designed very compact with a well-developed and optimised layout. The system offers benefits in the areas high operator safety, excellent performance efficiency and operational reliability, high process standards combined into a fully automated control system. The high level of automation allows the brew house, from the raw material to cold wort, to be operated by only one single operator. 7 FERMENTATION & BRIGHT BEER SYSTEM 9 10 The fermentation shop includes the wort cooling aeration system, the 3,000 hl horizontal fermentation tanks (Horaps), the 3,000 hl vertical fermentation tanks and the bright beer tanks and associated systems. The complete installation is controlled by a fully automated control system. The Horaps are specially designed to accommodate the Heineken brewing process. The system is designed to accommodate the activated dry yeast propagation technique, using one activation tank, one propagation tank and one proliferation tank. The external circulation pump ensures thorough cleaning at each point without dead corners in the system. The low three-piece successive aeration process ensures the high purity and proper growth of the yeast. 8 FERMENTATION & BRIGHT BEER SYSTEM The Lehui wort aeration system and yeast dosing equipment, offers a system which achieves thorough dissolution and reduction of losses based on the application of an advanced design concept of low pressure aeration and high pressure dissolution. Closed loop CIP cleaning pipelines, de-aerated water supply pipelines and hot water supply pipelines ensure thorough cleaning at every point without dead corners and precision pressure and temperature control even though it may increase the investment in certain degree.
