The main manufacturing process consists of the coating of metal and plastic components with solvent-based liquid materials (spray painting, electro-painting or E-coating) or solid materials (powder coating). In the coating of metal and plastic compounds Ethyl Acetate is used in various paints to coat the parts and as a solvent to clean the spraying equipment. Ethyl Acetate is not created at the facility. DESCRIPTION OF OPTION TO BE IMPLEMENTED BIFI considered several reduction options, one of which was determined to potentially be both technically and economically feasible for implementation. However, BIFI is planning to comply with Ontario Regulation 419/05 by installing emission control equipment in the near future; therefore, does not intend to implement any toxic reduction options at this time.
