Goal #1 Determine how much water your family needs to store in order to meet Fema s minimum suggestion. Use the chart below if needed. Number of people in family: x 3 = gallons needed Household Size: Gallons Needed: Household Size: Gallons Needed: Write the number of gallons needed in the Water Storage Goals chart at the very end of this worksheet. Goal #2 Determine how much water your family needs to store in order to meet Fema s suggestion of 1 gallon per day per person, but for seven days instead of just three. Use the chart below if needed. Number of people in family: x 7 = gallons needed Household Size: Gallons Needed: Household Size: Gallons Needed: Write the number of gallons needed in the Water Storage Goals chart at the very end of this worksheet.

Goal #3 Determine how much water your family needs to store for a personalized two week supply of water by answering the questions below. Once you ve determined your points for a question, enter those points in the chart below: Points for Question #1: Points for Question #7: Points for Question #2: Points for Question #8: Points for Question #3: Points for Question #9: Points for Question #4: Points for Question #10: Points for Question #5: Points for Question #11: Points for Question #6: Points for Question #12: Total Points This Column: Total Points This Column: Total Point Both Columns: #1: Do you have access to a fresh water source? 5 Your total points are the number of gallons of water per person you should add to a basic (1 gallon per person) two week supply. Now, calculate the total gallons of water you should store for a personalized week period of time based on your family s particular needs by completing the following three steps: Step #1: Number of people in family: x 7 = base number of gallons needed Household Size: Gallons Needed: Household Size: Gallons Needed: Step #2: Number of people in family: x total points: = extra gallons needed Step #3: Basic gallons needed: + extra gallons needed: = total gallons needed for personalized two week supply Write the number of gallons needed in the Water Storage Goals chart at the very end of this worksheet.

Goal #4 Determine how much water your family would need to live comfortably and not just survive for a period of at least two weeks by answering the questions below. Once you ve determined your points for a question, enter those points in the chart below: Points for Question #1: Points for Question #2: Points for Question #3: Total Points #1: Do you want to be able to do laundry (by hand)? Yes (+4 points per person in family) #2: Do you want to be able to wash your dishes (by hand)? Yes (+3 points per person in family) #3: Do you want to be able to bathe / shower (around 3 times per week)? Yes (+2 points per person in family) Your total points are the number of gallons of water per person that you should add to your personalized two week supply. Now, calculate the total gallons of water you should store for a robust 2 week water supply: Gallons needed for personalized supply (from goal #3): + Extra gallons needed (total points from above exercise): = total gallons needed for a robust 2 week water supply: Write the number of gallons needed in the Water Storage Goals chart at the very end of this worksheet.

Goal #5 If a water crisis were to last long term (months), it would be very difficult to store enough water to last. Water takes up a good amount of space. As such, I suggest trying to store water for 2-4 weeks and then find a way to filter / purify enough water to last for 3-6 months. Step #1: Calculate the amount of water you d need to store for a robust 4 week supply: Gallons needed for robust 2 week supply: x 2 = gallons for a robust 4 week supply Step #2: Calculate the amount of water you d need to be able to filter for a 6 month supply (5 months in addition to what you have stored): Gallons needed for robust 4 week supply: x 5.5 = the number gallons your filter / purifier needs to be able to process. Write the number of gallons needed in the Water Storage Goals chart on the next page.

Use the following chart to track your water storage goals: Water Storage Goals: Goal: #1. Three Gallons per person #2. Seven Gallons per person #3. Personalized 2 week supply #4. Robust 2 week supply Gallons Needed for my family: Done #5. Long Term Solution Gallons to Store: Gallons to Filter:
