4 T H E S O L U T I O N T he Vento Clean-System (VCS) is a portable device designed for the ventilation and recovery of Volatile Organic Compounds from tanks and hoses during loading, unloading and ventilation, in the shipping, storage and aircraft industries. The VCS is a closed system, making it emission-free. The VCS is a portable system that can be used at almost any location. Jetties and sites that were previously off limits for the manipulation of volatile products can now be utilised. Shifting berth or leaving the port are no longer necessary. This fact offers you maximum flexibility in your cargo operations. Once empty, tanks are immediately reusable, and no further cleaning is necessary. Another advantage of the VCS is that it can handle the high flow rates generated when loading tankers. A single VCS can process 3,000 m3 of vapour per hour. It is also possible to link two VCS units together, thereby doubling the flow rate to 6,000 m3/hr. VENTO CLEAN SYSTEM T H E M A K E R S T he Vento Clean System is a unique development from The European Innovation Company BV, in cooperation with NR Koeling BV and Specialised Tanker Services BV. A number of governmental and commercial bodies were involved in special project groups during the development of the Vento Clean System. The bodies involved included The Port of Amsterdam, the Port of Rotterdam, the Transport, Public Works and Water Management Inspectorate (Inspectie Verkeer en Waterstaat), Lloyd s register and the Association of Rhine and Inland Barging (CBRB). Thanks to this close and intensive cooperation, the system complies with the largest possible number of standards and safety requirements. The Vento Clean System is patented by the European Innovation Company BV.

5 A Unique system for the emission free transport and storage of Volatile Organic Compound S U S TA I N A B I L I T Y T he pollution caused by VOCs can be reduced to zero and the (indirect) CO² emissions significantly lowered. The Vento Clean System is a closed system. Thanks to the unique condensation process on which the system is based, gasses and residues can very rapidly be returned to the original product, in liquid form. The high speed of operation together with the high ventilation capacity of the system are achieved by establishing a higher optimum temperature in the tanks and hoses. The heat is retrieved from the condensation process. A R T I S T S I M P R E S S I O N O F T H E V C S As a result, the duration of the condensation process is shortened, and energy consumption minimized. The condensation process is in fact a natural process that requires no chemical reaction in order to retrieve the original product. The retrieved products should therefore be suitable for reuse in the original product, depending on the atmosphere from which the condensate was extracted.

6 The VCS use low-wear components; it can be compared to a large air-conditioning unit. The write-off period is between 10 and 15 years. E F F E C T I V E N E S S U se of the Vento Clean System enables a rapid turnaround; in other words, the tanks can be reused immediately for another compatible product. Tank washing is generally not necessary. By using nitrogen, the entire cycle of loading, unloading and venting is made much safer, and there is hardly any waste. Environmentally-unfriendly ventilation is thereby made a thing of the past. The additional shipping hours required for ventilation can be reduced, as can CO² emissions, port and lock charges, and in many cases it is more quickly possible to load a return cargo. In short, the Vento Clean System saves time and money for both ship operator and cargo owner. In addition to the advantages of the Vento Clean System outlined above all of which guarantee a rapid return on investment, in an improved environment the working conditions are massively improved, as your people are less often required to work in protective clothing and masks. Finally, the system is also environmentally friendly. Remarkably, all of those advantages can be achieved with just a single, fully-mobile forty-foot container.

7 B R O A D S C O P E T he Vento Clean System is suitable for use with inland shipping vessels, coasters, deep-sea ships, tank terminals and aircraft tanks, for the storage, transport and venting of VOC products. Onshore, the system can be used on return hoses for the retrieval and elimination of gasses VENTO CLEAN SYSTEM during loading and unloading. The system can also be used for the sustainable retrieval of gasses and residues from storage tanks and tank containers. W O R K I N G S C O P E T he standard Vento Clean System has been developed for the condensation of volatile hydrocarbons, within the following physical parameters: Melting point < 6 C; Boiling Point > 30 C; Auto ignition Temperature > 200 C; Viscosity < 5 mpa.s. The operating scope of the Vento Clean System includes the following products: UN2398, UN1203, UN1267, UN1267, UN1280, UN1863, UN1230, UN1114, UN1993, UN1145. The standard VCS can also be used with other products as long as they comply with the aforementioned parameters.

8 The standard Vento Clean System operates with: an adjustable evaporation temperature of between -30 and +10 C; external suction/discharge pressure for the Roots Blower of 200hPa/150hPa; an ambient air temperature of between -20 C and +40 (=38 C) C with a saturated gas temperature between 0 and +30 C. Q U A L I T Y A N D S A F E T Y T he Vento Clean System has been desig- ned to provide a solution for a broad range of products with varying suction and discharge pressures. Within the system itself, an external condenser regulates the discharge of redundant heat to the open air. The condensed gas is replaced by/supplemented with nitrogen. This approach guarantees the highest safety and optimum system performance. The condensed VOCs are replaced by nitrogen; this allows an inerted mother ship to discharge into a de-inerted inland barge or coaster. At the same time, the Vento Clean System recovers valuable residual product.

HOW TO USE THE VENTO CLEAN SYSTEM P icture of a transhipment at a terminal When loading a ship at a terminal, the Vento Clean System can be used as a mobile shore- based vapour recovery unit. This allows the terminal to use jetties that are not connected to the terminal s own Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU). The VCS also enables you to recover valuable product residues (components). In these situations, the Vento Clean System can be used to facilitate and accelerate the ventilation process while simultaneously saving time (by avoiding shifting the vessel or leaving the port) and recovering valuable product residues.

At the same time, VCS reclaims the product, in its original form. As required, the VCS can also be used for inerting shore tanks.
