2 Message from: MD & CEO Dubai Electricity and Water Authority Founder & Chairman of WETEX Dear Exhibitors and Visitors, Over the last 20 years, the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) has established itself as one of the largest and most important specialised exhibitions in the region. WETEX is organised under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA. The exhibition has become a leading global event, and a key platform that brings together exhibitors, visitors, experts, specialists, decision makers, and investors interested in the water, energy, technology and environment sectors. WETEX has been growing every year, attracting more sponsors, partners, specialists, experts, and government organisations. The 19th WETEX in 2017 attracted over 1,950 exhibitors and 31,000 visitors from over 50 countries, in addition to 75 sponsors. Because of the increasing demand for participation in the exhibition, space has been expanded to cover 70,000 square metres. WETEX 2017 coincided with the 4th World Green Economy Summit, and the 2nd Dubai Solar Show, which covered 14,000 square metres. WETEX is organised under the umbrella of Green Week, which features a series of community-oriented environmental activities, making it an impactful event for all of society. 5 WETEX & Dubai Solar Show highlight latest developments, investments and technologies in energy, water, solar, environment and green development sectors Latest energy, water, and environmental technologies WETEX 2018 will have on display the latest tools and equipment, including turbines, compressors, motors, power generators, air cleaning and purification equipment, batteries, high-voltage cables, wiring technologies, calibration measurement equipment, protection systems, centrifuge machinery, communication equipment, industrial and residential control systems, safety equipment, refrigeration and heating, diesel engines, fire-fighting and safety systems, transducers, control electronic systems, corrosion equipment, energy-efficient home appliances and other products. At WETEX 2018, visitors can review the latest technologies in water treatment, desalination plants, pipes of all kinds, coolers and heaters, and related products and solutions. It will also display tools, equipment and accessories for digging technologies, pumps, valves, and tools to ease pressure and others. WETEX will show the latest advances in irrigation systems, agriculture and horticulture equipment, and water extraction equipment. With a focus on water conservation, WETEX will showcase products for detecting and treating water leakages, reservoir lining, and various materials used in the water sector and water transportation. Latest solar-energy technologies With the rapid development in the solar energy sector, and the success of the previous Dubai Solar Show, DEWA is organising the 3rd Dubai Solar Show this year. The show will expand to over 14,000 square metres and attract the biggest companies and organisations in solar power from around the world. The exhibition will be an important platform for government and private sectors to make deals and build partnerships, access the latest technologies in the solar sector, and learn about current and future projects in the region as well as market needs and opportunities to participate in leading solar projects and programmes. This supports the efforts of the UAE Government and governments in the region to increase reliance on renewable and clean energy. 6 DEWA invites companies to use opportunities and investments provided by WETEX and Dubai Solar Show Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has invited companies and organisations working in energy, renewable energy, water, the environment, to participate and display their products and services at the 20th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and the 3rd Dubai Solar Show. Companies can benefit from the promising opportunities in these offered by the UAE and the region, and review key projects and investments that will be announced at the two exhibitions, which will be held from October 2018, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The exhibitions will be held under the umbrella of Green Week, which includes various environmental activities and events to raise awareness about the importance of conserving energy resources and promoting sustainable development and green economy in Dubai. Both the 19th WETEX and the 2nd Dubai Solar Show, in October 2017, were remarkable successes among exhibitors, visitors, participants from around the world. The two exhibitions attracted over 31,000 visitors. Over 1,950 exhibitors from 50 countries took part in WETEX 2017, which covered an area of 70,000 square metres and had 75 sponsors. The 2nd Dubai Solar Show attracted 108 exhibitors from 11 countries as well as 10 sponsors. According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance, USD 7.4 trillion will be channelled to renewables, equivalent to 72% of the money the world will spend on new power generation over the period to This confirms the importance of the Dubai Solar Show, as a platform for public and private sectors to enter into deals and build partnerships, learn about the latest solar power technologies and identify the needs of the market at a time when the Government of Dubai continues to launch big clean and renewable energy projects, to support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to provide 75% of Dubai's energy from clean sources by Organising WETEX, the Dubai Solar Show, and the World Green Economy Summit concurrently is an opportunity for exhibitors and participants to meet officials and decision-makers from the UAE, the GCC, and the Middle East in general. 7 Universities invited to showcase their latest innovations in the Innovation Hall at WETEX and Dubai Solar Show Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has invited local and international universities to take part in the Innovation Hall, which is a key component of the 20th Water, Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) The exhibition is held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA, from 23 to 25 October 2018, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition is held under the theme At the forefront of sustainability. Through the Innovation Hall at WETEX and the Dubai Solar Show, which hosts more than 17 universities, we seek to support university students by displaying their ideas and innovations in areas such as sustainability, energy, water, renewable energy, gas, and oil. This supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to involve the youth in the development process, as they are the driving force behind creating a brighter future.
