Large amounts may cause chemical pneumonitis. Skin Contact / Absorption.... Contact with skin may produce slight irritation, including redness and itching. Eye Contact May cause irritation with discomfort or pain, local redness and swelling of the conjunctiva. Ingestion..... May cause gastro-intestinal irritation. If ingested in large quantities may cause nausea, constipation and hypercalcaeia, hemorrhage. Exposure Limits... ACGIH/TLV-TWA: 10mg/m 3 (calcium carbonate) ACGIH/TLV-TWA: 0.05mg/m 3 (crystalline silica) OSHA/PEL-TWA: 15mg/m 3 (calcium carbonate) OSHA/PEL-TWA: 0.1mg/m 3 (crystalline silica) Section 04 - First Aid Measures Inhalation Remove victim to fresh air. Give artificial respiration only if breathing has stopped. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek immediate medical attention. Skin Contact / Absorption... Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs or persists. Eye Contact Flush immediately with water for at least 20 minutes. Forcibly hold eyelids apart to ensure complete irrigation of eye tissue. Seek immediate medical attention. Ingestion..... If conscious, wash out mouth with water. Drink several glasses of water to dilute. Seek immediate medical attention. Additional Information Not available Conditions of Flammability... 3 Page 3 of 7 Flash Point Not applicable Auto-ignition Temperature.. Not applicable Upper Flammable Limit... Not applicable Lower Flammable Limit Not applicable Hazardous Combustible Products... Normally not flammable but calcium carbonate will ignite and burn fiercely in contact with fluorine. Special Fire Fighting Procedures... Wear NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing. Explosion Hazards... When a mixture of calcium carbonate and magnesium is heated in a current of hydrogen, a violent explosion occurs. Section 06 - Accidental Release Measures Leak / Spill Wear appropriate personal protective equipment if required. Ventilate area. Avoid raising and breathing in dust when sweeping up spilled material. Place swept material into a container for proper disposal. Use industrail vacuums for larger spills. Flush with water to remove any residue. Deactivating Materials Not available Section 07 - Handling and Storage Handling Procedures Use proper equipment for lifting and transporting all containers. Use sensible industrial hygiene and housekeeping practices. Wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid all situations that could lead to harmful exposure. Storage Requirements Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed and away from acids. Protective Equipment Section 08 - Personal Protection and Exposure Controls Eyes..... Chemical goggles, full-face shield, or a full-face respirator is to be worn at all times when product is handled. Contact lenses should not be worn; they may contribute to severe eye injury.
