We have replaced all but 4 physical servers in our environment with 9 virtual servers, thus reducing power consumption for the hardware which also includes cooling requirements. CF has further configured the servers to reduce power consumption based on utilization and server load via newly implemented server management software. For example, during after hours, when fewer users are logged in, the servers will shut down power to only use the resources that are needed without impacting performance to the end user. All of the remote sites have been centralized the majority of their server and storage infrastructure to Tampa, reducing the amount of power and footprint needed for each location. CF once had 10 to 12 servers in each outer location, there are now only 3 servers which serve functions for local efficiency reasons. CF has implemented a new online employee directory which also provides the ability to view previously hard copy versions which were distributed 3 times a year. In the process of drafting guidelines for shutting down desktop computers and office equipment
