3 Energy Automation Taking the Smart Home to a Whole New Level Give your customers ultimate peace-of-mind with a smart home solution that not only fully manages and maximizes their energy, but also protects them against power outages. Smart Configurable Backup Gives users the ability to select from dealer-defined backup power strategies when an outage occurs (e.g. how long stored power will last). Power outage occurs. Powered by ecolinx, the Adapt Energy Automation Package works with the home automation system to present backup power options to the homeowner. These options are based on real-time load usage history, ecolinx state-of-charge and current solar production. The Adapt Energy Automation Package selects which controllable breakers will turn on and which will remain off during the outage. Note: The homeowner can override this setting if needed. Additionally, other functions can be triggered within the home automation system to decrease the home s power consumption while on backup power ie; dim the lights, lower the shades and adjust the thermostat ecolinx recognizes the grid outage and forms a microgrid by flipping the Automatic Transfer Switch (<100ms) to immediately begin powering the home automation system using stored energy. Homeowner selects how long they would like to power their home with available stored energy (e.g. power a small number of loads for a long duration of time or power a large number of loads for a short duration of time). 4 Advanced Features Include: Smart Weather Forecasting Detects severe weather, alerts homeowners of a potential power outage and uses dealer-defined rules to automatically increase the energy reserve, ensuring that ample backup power is stored to prepare them for the worst. Example: If a severe storm is detected that will likely cause an outage, the backup power buffer will automatically increase from 20% to 100%. Then, instead of allotting 20% of stored energy for backup power, the system will override all other dealer-defined rules to ensure that 100% of all stored energy is reserved for backup power so that it is available when needed. 20% 100% Smart Demand Control and Load Management Automatically manages and maximizes the use of clean, stored energy to offset peak utility rates and power the home in the cleanest and most efficient way possible. By implementing power-saving scenes, the system optimizes energy usage without disruption to the homeowner. Overall, it allows the homeowner to use cleaner, less expensive energy generated during the day and re-deploy it during peak hours (like at night) to ultimately minimize costs and reduce their carbon footprint. Examples: 1. Pre-cooling the home in the afternoon using abundant solar energy (rather than at night when energy costs are high) while also using excess solar energy to charge the ecolinx (load shifting). Now, the home will rely less on the grid during peak hours at night because: A) Less energy is needed to keep the home cool since it was pre-cooled earlier in the day. B) The ecolinx will use stored, clean energy to power other nighttime loads (e.g. lights, washer), thus making them entirely invisible to the grid. 2. Powering down less-crucial loads in the home (e.g. jacuzzi) to increase energy efficiency and reduce grid strain during peak periods while keeping high-priority loads (e.g. refrigerator, lights) running (load shedding). 3. Lowering the shades, turning off lights and non-essential loads and increasing the temperature by a few degrees to save energy (load shedding).
