ALGORITHMS FOR LOAN ACQUISITION, VERIFICATION AND REPORTING CYCLE

Sanitation Marketing Loan Process FINISH INK project has elaborate loan marketing, acquisition and reporting process flow. All the consortium partners work together to ensure both the demand and the supply for sanitation meet the satisfaction of the customer and the product/s achieve set standards. Once potential client and sanitation product has been identified, loan officers from the financial institutions conduct loan evaluations.

Cont Based on customer credit worthiness and the bill of quantity supplied by the sanitation toilet product provider or artisan and cross-checked by Amref, the loan is disbursed to the customer who acquires both services and goods to construct a sanitation system. Direct verbal report is supplied to Amref and MoH who verify that the customer has acquired the service of a trained artisan and correct materials are procured according to standards and specifications. Amref books thie client in the monthly monitoring tool and during regular field visits verifies the progress of work.

Challenges in sanitation marketing High attrition rates ; trained local artisans pursuing for greener pastures Scanty supply chain for PVC slabs Small dimension of PVC slabs are inappropriate to the standard VIP slab size Inability of sanitation marketing to converge at availability, affordability, quality and acceptability of technology Set house hold priorities vs sanitation

Way forward All involved tech. staff and CHWs must be capacity built for greater results Requires a robust institutional arrangements Requires to establish regional resource capacity for master trainers Need for policy uptake orientations including national guidelines

Ultimately Busia County Rural Population to tackle the remaining 31.4 % unimproved sanitation in the next three (3) years
