Capacity corresponding to sectoral activity (such as production capacity for manufacturing, mining lease area and production capacity for mineral production, area for mineral exploration, length for linear transport infrastructure capacity for power generation etc.) Activity: 1. Construction, operation or decommissioning of the Project involving actions, which will cause physical changes in the locality (topography, land use, changes in water bodies, etc.) S. Information/Checklist 1.1 Permanent or temporary change in land use, land cover or topography including increase in intensity of land use (with Yes/ Details thereof (with approximate quantities /rates, wherever possible) with source of information data This is Government land. Due to mining activities there will be slight changes in topographical features because proposed mining confined to 3

4 respect to local land use plan) 1.2 Clearance of existing land, vegetation and buildings? river bed only no other area disturbed. Proposed mine is a part of river bed with Ordinary Sand reaches. Ordinary Sand mining will be done up to a depth of 2.15m. The activity will take place on the river bed. The excavated Ordinary Sand from mine lease area will be naturally replenished with the flow of water Mining will be restricted to the allotted area only keeping the shores unaffected, thus does not involve any change in existing topography or land use. The proposed plan involves extraction of Ordinary Sand from the river bed only and does not require any clearance of existing land, vegetation and building. 1.3 Creation of new land uses? t Applicable 1.4 Pre-construction investigations e.g. t Applicable bore houses, soil testing? 1.5 Construction works? Construction of permanent nature is required. 1.6 Demolition works? t Applicable 1.7 Temporary sites used for Mining is confined in dry season in River construction works or housing of construction workers? Sharda in day time only, and temporary laborers from local area will be hired, thus no housing of construction workers is required. 1.8 Above ground buildings, structures or earthworks including linear structures, cut and fill or excavations 1.9 Underground works including mining or tunneling? civil work is required in the mine lease area. Only Opencast Ordinary Sand mining is done Reclamation works? River itself replenishes with sediment carried during monsoon season Dredging? dredging will be done for Ordinary Sand mining Offshore structures? t Applicable 1.13 Production and manufacturing processes? The mining operation will be carried out by open excavation method and about 1,23,660 m3/annum of Ordinary Sand will be excavated. 4

5 1.14 Facilities for storage of goods or materials? 1.15 Facilities for treatment or disposal of solid waste or liquid effluents? 1.16 Facilities for long term housing of operational workers? Mined material (Ordinary Sand) will be loaded and transported directly through the trucks or trolleys; hence no temporary or permanent storage will be required. There would be no construction laborers inhabit at site thus there will be very less or no generation of solid waste is anticipated. Mining activities is confined to day time only, thus do not involve long term housing of operational workers New road, rail or sea traffic new road, rail will be constructed New road, rail, air waterborne or other transport infrastructure including new or altered routes and stations, ports, airports etc? t Applicable 1.19 Closure o r d i v e r s i o n o f t Applicable e x i s t i n g t r a n s p o r t routes or infrastructure leading to changes in traffic movements? 1.20 New or diverted transmission There are no transmission lines or lines or pipelines? pipeline passing through the project 1.21 Impoundment, damming, culverting, realignment or other changes to the hydrology of watercourses or aquifers? area. Ordinary Sand mining will be restricted to river bed only unaffecting the shores; hence no change to the hydrology of watercourse or aquifers is anticipated Stream crossings? t Applicable 1.23 Abstraction or transfers of water The water requirement for the form ground or surface waters? operational workers is met by private tankers from nearby dugwell/borewell. It is estimated that approx. 20 local labors are hired from nearby villages; total man power will be 27. It is estimated that approx KLD Drinking: 0.85 KLD (@ 30 lpcd) for 27 labours; Sprinkling on approx 4.50 km long haulage route: 4.50 KLD; Plantation: 2.5 KLD Total water requirement: 7.85 KLD 1.24 Changes in water bodies or the land surface affecting drainage or run-off? Proposed mining will be done scientifically, and thus will help to maintain the water course of the river. 5

6 1.25 Transport of personnel or materials for construction, operation or decommissioning? 1.26 Long-term dismantling or decommissioning or restoration works? 1.27 Ongoing activity during decommissioning which could have an impact on the environment? 1.28 Influx of people to an area in either temporarily or permanently? Yes Collection of minor mineral will be done from the river bed only in order to maintain the natural course and flow of water during rainy season River Sharda also to protect the nearby villages adjoining to banks from flooding and erosion. Thus these changes will be positive. Minerals River Sand will be transported in Tractors & trucks by road. Workers will come from nearby villages on their convenience. During operational phase and excavated material is transported directly to the local markets. Existing road will be used for transportation. t Applicable River itself carried huge amount of sediment during every monsoon season so there is no reclamation measures proposed at mine site. t Applicable The afforestation will be carried out along the Haulage roads planted with local plant species. It will check riparian erosion and creates aesthetic environment of surrounding area. It is estimated that approx 20 laborers will be employed locally from nearby areas; total man power will be 27. Yes/ Details thereof (with approximate quantities/rates, wherever possible) with source of information data hazardous material is being used or Generated. t Applicable Water sprinkling will be done on haul roads for suppression of dust which will be generated by vehicular movement. 7.4 From any other sources t Applicable 7.5 Is there a risk of long term build up of pollutants in the environment from these sources? There is no such risk. 8. Risk of accidents during construction or operation of the Project, which could affect human health or the environment. Information/Checklist Yes/ Details thereof (with approximate quantities/rates, wherever possible) with source of information data 11

12 8.1 From explosions, spillages, fires etc from storage, handling, use or production of hazardous substances storage is proposed at site, material will directly transported to the market. 8.2 From any other causes t Applicable 8.3 Could the project be affected by natural disasters causing environmental damage (e.g. floods, earthquakes, landslides, cloudburst etc)? Mining activities are being done in dry season only. In fact the project helps to protect the banks of river and nearby villages from flooding and erosion by maintains the natural course and flow of river. Thus the impact will be positive in term of protection by natural hazards causing environmental damage. 9. Factors which should be considered (such as consequential development) which could lead to environmental effects or the potential for cumulative impacts with other existing or planned activities in the locality. Information/Checklist 9.1 Lead to development of supporting. Lights, ancillary development or development stimulated by the project which could have impact on the environment e.g.: Supporting infrastructure (roads, power supply, waste or waste water treatment, etc.) Housing development Extractive industries Supply industries Other 9.2 Lead to after-use of the site, which could have an impact on the environment. Yes/ Details thereof (with approximate quantities/rates, wherever possible) with source of information data Project proponent will organize regular medical checkup camps and recreational activities. Employment to local people will be generated. Overall living standard of nearby people will have positive impact. supporting infrastructure is required since the site has good connectivity with local roads, MDR and highways. Also the laborers will be hired locally thus no permanent or temporary housing is required at site. Since it is a river bed excavation, arrival of monsoon every year will replenish the excavated site. Hence there will be no change in land use pattern. 12
