1 Circular economy innovation on neutralizing toxicity and reclaiming high value substances from the waste of the Olive Oil extraction process Markos Ninolakis FEREKARPOS

2 This is a project that will, primarily, neutralize the environmentally toxic waste produced by the olive mills during the olive oil extraction process it will, secondarily, produce high value by-products that will ensure its sustainability due to their high international demand and trading price. The research and testing stages have been completed; scientific approvals and alliances have been obtained. The proprietary technology patents have been secured and the initial licensing is in progress. The project is now ready to seek financing. The FEREKARPOS project, at Apokoronas Crete, as leader for many more to come ( i.e. Meligalas Peloponnesus ), addresses the eminent concern of the olive producing Mediterranean countries and around the world, with a total and sustainable solution to the environmental contamination suffered by the resulting toxicity of the olive oil extraction process. It relates to the core of the agricultural sector and eliminates a serious cause of harm to our environment and a threat to the quality of life in the future

3 Envisioned and structured,within the circular economy concept, this project incorporates the principals of circular economy in a total processes management system not only by adding value and reusability to what would otherwise be considered waste, but also by recovering and reusing Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen, Salts etc., from its own plant operation. Relevant practices are also adopted, like the choice of using CNG fuel in its transport fleet for the raw material to minimize the carbon dioxide emissions from estimated km PA freight transport of Olive pomace and waste by trucks compliant with the latest Euro 6 standards. The high recovery and high quality of Hydroxytyrosol and other high value Polyphenols, will allow FEREKARPOS to claim a major role in the global polyphenols market All Olive Oil, recovered and acquired, tons annually, representing 0.83% of global Olive Oil trade (I. O.C. ), will be enriched in our facilities with Hydroxytyrosol to comply with EU directive EFSA 432/2012, and will become a Health Claim product, with high added value
