2 Brief Report on Swachhta hi Seva Campaign observed under CESVP scheme The Delhi based ENVIS Resource partners jointly organized an awareness programme on Swachhta to contribute to Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October, Also, as the ENVIS scheme now has a program running on village sensitization (CESVP), the Delhi based resources partners took an initiative to sensitize three villages in Delhi on importance of keeping environment clean namely Singhola, Ghoga & Dhirpur which were suggested by our Hon'ble Union Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). Under this initiative, Delhi based resource partners i.e. TERI, SPA, CMS, JNU, CPCB, Sulabh and WWF organized multiple activities aligned under the bracket of clean environment. A brief outline of the activities carried out during the awareness programme in the above mentioned villages is given below: Cleanliness drives with involvement of local communities. Awareness programme for major environmental issues such as Pollution, Waste Management, Water Management, Solar Energy, Sewage treatment plants. Sensitize citizens about cleanliness of public places. March past with Posters and Banners. Tree plantation in the villages. List of Delhi based ENVIS Resource partners who participated in the campaign with the subject theme is given in Annexure 1

9 Annexure II Qualitative Data Village 1 Singhola Main Features: Roadside Entry : Neem, peepal, lantana, satapami; pilakan, kicker Different chopal for different communities Treated drinking water available Primary School and schools available Problems: (as per people) Burning of waste Water logging At different sites; constantly flowing of water and waste of water supply have been observed due to the absence or leakage of public taps from the water supply pipelines. No temple ( women issue) Lack of Recreational Spaces Access to hospital: Nearest is Raja Harish Chandra Hospital Crematorium (Shamshaan Ghaat) across the road Problems (Observed) Using of wood fuel in the kitchens Latrine disposal through open drains (was not stinky though Class hierarchy, Caste Hierarchy Social oppression of women Primary Health Centre (immediate requirement) Village 2: Ghoga Problems (observed) Communities uninterested in matter of cleanliness Lack of effective community organization in matters of cleanliness Chopal being used for Drinking, Beedis and cards : Lack of effective usage of community spaces Disposal of Latrines into open drains : Village was stinky Lack of maintenance Lack of maintained recreational spaces open to public+ Primary Health Centre (immediate requirement)
