Environmental Protection Report Environmental Protection and Safety Location South Carolina Plant Update Status December 212

Changes at the Location There were no new buildings constructed in 211. However, there were major machine moves and changes to the factory layout. These changes were made to improve product line flow and make space for new machines and product to be produced in 212. The biggest changes in 211 at Plant 6 came in the area of new production machines, new products and increased production. Assembly equipment was received and installed to accommodate new products for Family Zero from General Motors. A VCT Assembly line was received and installed to accommodate parts for Volkswagen EA888. Organizational changes that occurred in 211 include the following: >> A new Maintenance Supervisor transferred from another Schaeffler location. >> A new Segment Leader was transferred from Plant 3 to accommodate the new business >> The EHS Coordinator left the company and the new Maintenance Supervisor took over his responsibilities. Elevated levels of zinc in wastewater discharges were tracked back to the usage of oil in our Gildemeister machines. This oil was replaced with a similar one that contained about half the concentration of zinc, resulting in lower zinc concentrations in our wastewater discharge.

Health and Safety The Safety Target Rates Goal Result Safety Incident Rate Safety Severity Rate.7.55 The actual number of accidents declined from 12 (21) to 1 (211). A decrease was also seen in the total recordable incident rate from 6.17 (21) to 5.48 (211). Plant 6 Incident Rates (OSHA Incident Rate) Plant 6 Severity Rates (OSHA Severity Rate) Several programs were introduced in 211 to address safety improvements. >> A safety perception survey was conducted. As a result, programs to recognize safe behavior and increase employee input on EHS issues were implemented. >> Each Supervisor attended 4 training classes on Daily Safety Management (Raising the Bar, Lets Talk it Over, Hazard Identification and Elimination, and Accident Analysis-Awareness). >> Report on Leading Safety Metrics during management reviews. >> Maintained the FM Global Highly Protected Risk Category. >> An ergonomic study was completed of the Assembly area to identify improvements. >> Lockout Tag out and Risk Assessments were programs were updated.

Input Notes on selected key performance indicators Electrical Energy Actual electrical usage increased from 29 to 21 and then decreased from 21 to 211. These changes are attributed to production and influences from energy savings projects. kwh per Yr / Production Credit ($) [kwh / Yr] Electric Usage Plant Natural Gas Actual natural gas usage decreased 21 to 211. The specific reason for this decrease can not be attributable to any specific action. DKY per Yr / Production Credit ($) [DKY / Yr] Natural Gas Usage Plant 6,25,2,15,1, Water Consumption Actual water usage has increased slightly from 29 through 211. This increase is related to production demands. Gallons per Yr / Production Credit ($) [Gallons / Yr] Water Usage Plant

Output Notes on selected key performance indicators CO 2 Emissions CO 2 emissions from electricity decreased in 211 which track along with actual energy usage. [Tons / Yr] Co 2 Emissions from Electricity Plant Recycled Waste Material The volume of recycled wastes increased in 211 primarily due to increased production. Recycled Waste Plant % 21 35% % Steel Recycled Steel recycling increased due to increased production and was a major contributor to the 211 increase in recycled materials.
