3 Product Product description: Precast concrete beams are used in building constructions. Products are available in various sizes, shapes and lengths. Technical data: Beams are produced in accordance with EN and EN Comprehensive strength and eposure class is provided according to project documentation. Product specification: Product specification per tonne product is given below. Market: Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The Norwegian market is used for modelling A5 and C1-. Materials Sand Stones Cement Water Reinforcement details Steel details Additives Sum % , , ,4 58 5,8 77 7, ,1 1 1 Reference service life, product: 6 years Reference service life, building: 6 years LCA: Calculation rules Declared unit: 1 tonne precast concrete beams Figure 1 Flow diagram System boundary: The system boundaries for the cradle-to-gate analysis are given in the flow diagram. All modules are included ecept module D. There are no environmental impact in B1-B5 and B6 and B7 are not relevant according to PCR. Waste processing is included in module A1-3 and in C1 and. Data quality: Product specific data is from 214. Generic data is from Simapro v with Ecoinvent 3.1 database from 214. Allocation: The allocation is made in accordance with the provisions of EN Incoming energy and water and waste production inhouse is allocated equally among all products through mass allocation. Effects of primary production of recycled materials allocated to the main product in which the material was used. The recycling process and transportation of the material is allocated to this analysis. Cut-off criteria: All major raw materials and all the essential energy is included. The production process for raw materials and energy flows that are included with very small amounts (<1%) are not included. This cut-off rule does not apply for hazardous materials and substances. Averaging of data: Products are produces in two factories in Latvia. The production line and energy source in the factories are similar and the average of product spesific data has been based on the production volume. The variability between the production sites is estimated to be small. NEPD EN Precast concrete beams, 3/6

4 LCA: Scenarios and additional technical information The following information describe the scenarios in the different modules of the EPD. The transport distance from the production site to consumer is an average distance based on factory location and typical customer location for this product. Transport from production place to user (A4) Type Type of vehicle Distance km Fuel/Energy Value Capacity utilisation (incl. return) % consumption (l/t) Truck 58 % Freight lorry >32t, Euro 4 352,14 l/tkm 5,2 Ferry 71 % Transoceanic ship 283,3 l/tkm,85 A5 includes energy use in building machines. The beams are demolished and separated at the site. Steel is recycled. Concrete is either deposited (25,9 %) Assembly (A5) or used in roadfillings etc. (74,1 %).
