5 THE EVOLUTION OF CRUSHED STONE INDUSTRY IN THE LAST DECADE The industry of aggregates exploitation and processing give all the raw materials to the civil and building activity. In the period all the stone industry has been on the wane, result of general decrease of investments in the construction activity, return to the civil buildings with 1-4 floor, construction of industrial buildings with other type of materials, decreasing of road and railway construction / maintenance.

I was created new jobs, more work places, technological transfer, infrastructure development and local services. This is a good opportunity for development, but for the statistical evaluations and the perspective programs is very difficult sometimes to show a real situation, because a lot of them refuse to give information concerning to production.

10 LEGISLATIVE RULES Even the great concerns and a part of small firms allocated a lot of money to be conform with the international environmental rules, the current activity involve a change of natural environment. 12 MANAGERIAL POLITICS To succeed in the proper activity and in the frame of European rules, more and more strictly, the most number of firms wish to obtain and to demonstrate a good stage of environmental performances, by control of processes, services or products. One of method is the implementation of Environmental System Management, conform to EN ISO 14001:1995. The aim is to supply of elements for a real and good environmental management, integrated in the general politic of organization. In present, the mean direction for such firms are: to certify the quality of products by Romanian and European rules; to achieve the products only by conformity with standards, norms, technique specifications; to organize a proper laboratories for analysis and quality control; to pursuit of the flux manufacture; to change the unperformed equipments; to elaborate and respect the environmental programs and introduce the Quality and Environmental System of Management

13 THE FUTURE In Romania, the raw materials for civil and industrial manufacture, roads, streets, embankments are ensured by internal resources from open quarries and is enough quantity for the next 50 years. 14 THE FUTURE The future managerial trends the owner of quarries what produce crushed stone are: - the administration of technological wastes; the recycling and capitalization of wastes; - the adoption of solution to integrate in habitat of area which was affected by raw materials exploitation/ processing; - the implementation of environmental system management (with procedures and production criteria) and further environmental adopted programs; - the permanent assistance and communication between different levels of organizations. 16 CONCLUSIONS The many of river flows will be rehabilitated. A part of river aggregates quarries will continue their activity. But many of these quarries will be closed.. 18 CONCLUSIONS The analyze of governmental program for the next decade - in the same time with the statistical data show a good repartition in territory of quarries for crushed stone and river aggregates what will be use for civil and industrial buildings, construction / modernization / maintenance of roads, streets and railways. The future of aggregates demand on the Romanin market have to be cover more and more by sustainable using of crushed stone. In the same time, have to follow the new rules for monitoring, protection and reconstruction of affected areas by exploitation.
