18 FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY Engie ready to start on wood-fired facility Switzerland: Plant will supply three industrial companies when it's operational next year Utility Engie says work will get under way next month on a woodchip-fired cogeneration plant in Sisslerfeld, The plant will go into operation at the end of 2018, with its steam sold to industrial companies on the basis of three separate contracts all lasting for 20 years with electricity sold to the grid system. According to a statement the plant will supply steam to health and nutrition business DSM, pharmaceutical company Novartis and agrochemical operator Syngenta. The statement does not give specifics of the plant s size, but ENDS understands the facility will have a capacity of 36MW and process up to 110,000 tonnes of woodchips annually. Engie, which will has planned and will build and operate the facility together with its subsidiary Caliqua AG aims to create a "milestone" project that will showcase it bioenergy abilities in Switzerland The facility, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2018, is majority owned by France-based Engie (60%) but Switzerland-based utility electricity plant Zurich (EWZ) owns the remaining 40%. In total, the development is expected to cost the two companies CHF60m ( 55m). Woodchips will be sourced from a radius of not more 100 kilometres from the facility. 18
