Description of the Project byproject implementation area, community The main purpose of the sub-project is the improvement of pastures watering network in Geghhovit community providing sufficient water supply for 1957 bovine cattle and 996 small cattle directly in the pasture. The following construction activities will be implemented under the proposed sub-project: Construction of one spring collection point with metallic fence Installation of 3 water ways, which will be connected to drinking water pipeline, m length (PE 63x3,0 ) waterway 25,0 m length (PE 57x3,0) waterway, 12,0 m length (PE 57x3,0) waterway Construction of three 8,0 and 24, and 12,0 long metallic troughs- semi-pipes installed on concrete - cobblestone platform. 2 water collection chambers and pressure regulation chamber installation 46.2x24.0 m open cattle-pen construction 1020 m 2, from which 90 m x6.0m will have a roof Construction of 4.6x6.4, h=3.0 m shelter for herdsman The design for pastures watering network has been developed by the HGHSHN design company under the contract concluded with Agricultural Project Implementation Unit. Both waterways will be connected to drinking water pipeline, for which Geghhovit community obtained water use permits from MoNP. Land required for the project implementation belongs to community. Letter on land ownership from the Geghhovit community Head is attached. The sub-project site is located in Gegharkunik marz, in Geghhovit community near Martuni town area. Geghhovit is located on north- eastern part of Sevan lake, located on Gegahama mountain chain, m above sea level. Climatic conditions of the Geghhovit possesses is mild mountainous. The winter is cold, snowy. The summer is warm, few clouds, comparatively humid weather. The Sevan Lake mitigates the winter frost and summer heat. Because of the lake, the average temperature in January is almost the same as in Yerevan. Precipitation is not abundant, mm on the lake surface, up to 1000 in the mountains. Water for construction works will be provided by water cistern track. Aggregates and machinery will be obtained from the licensed providers within the project area. Contractor may choose to extract equipment himself, in which case contractor must obtain an extraction license prior to commencement of extraction. Metallic and PE pipes as well as all fittings will be purchased from an official supplier. Permits required for accomplishing the works envisaged by the project: Construction license to be possessed by Construction Contractor, Construction permit to be obtained by the Construction Contractor from Geghhovit municipality Water use permits obtained by Geghhovit community from RA MoNP Written consent for disposal of construction waste to be obtained by Construction Contractor from the Head of Geghhovit Community. General conditions Notification and Worker Safety (a) The local construction and environment inspectorates and communities have been notified of upcoming activities (b) The public has been notified of the works through appropriate notification in the media and/or at publicly accessible sites (including the site of the works) (c) All legally required permits have been acquired for construction and/or rehabilitation (d) The Contractor formally agrees that all work will be carried out in a safe and disciplined manner designed to minimize impacts on neighboring residents and environment. (e) Workers PPE will comply with international good practice (hardhats, as needed masks and safety glasses, harnesses and safety boots). (f) Appropriate signposting of the sites will inform workers of key rules and regulations to follow. A. General Rehabilitation and / or Construction Activities Air Quality Noise Waste management (a) The surrounding environment shall be kept free of debris (b) There will be no open burning of construction / waste material at the site (c) There will be no excessive idling of construction vehicles at sites (a) Construction noise will be limited to day-time hours (b) During operations the engine covers of generators, air compressors and other powered mechanical equipment shall be closed, and equipment placed as far away from residential areas as possible (a) Waste collection and disposal pathways and sites will be identified for all major waste types expected from construction activities. (b) Construction waste will be collected and disposed at the agreed site (c) Whenever feasible the contractor will reuse and recycle appropriate and viable materials (except asbestos) 6

16 16. Water use permit is subject to registration in the State Water Cadastre during 10 days The present water use permit consists of two copies. N ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS AS INTEGRAL PART OF WATER USE PERMIT The present conditions elaborated according to the requirements of Article 32 of Water Code of the RA are subject to mandatory fulfilment. 1. Geghhovit village office is obliged to: a/ meet requirements of the RA law conditioned by water use permit N and water use implementation. b/ in case of emergencies, water deficit and drought meet the requirements of Water resources management agency of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection, which are directed at public interest and protection of environment. c/ with its activities not reduce the rights of water use of traditional water users already existing before the water use permit N was issued. d/ ensure conditions for the official of the Water resources management agency of the Staff of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection to supervise performance of water use conditions. e/carry out spring regime observations by the qualified hydrogeological organization as prescribed by law and submit the results once a year to the WRMA to be registered in the State Water Cadastre. 2. The conditions of the present WP are subject to review at the request of WRMA during development of the given water basin management plan. 3.
