1 DRAINAGE DISTRICT #:J ASSESSMENT DODGE COUNTY DRAINAGE COMMISSION Robert Bohl, Chairman James Moylan, Secy Earl Schulz Revised, April, 1979 CENTRAL ENGI:NEERS & SURVEYORS, INC. BEAVER DAM, WISCONSIN

2 September 20, 1978 Dodge County Drainage Commission C/o Mr. Robert Bohl, Chairman Beaver Dam, Wisconsin Gentlemen: At your request and in conformance with Chapter 88 of the Wisconsin Statutes, we have prepared this report for Drainage District #;/+. This District is located in and adjacent to the Village of Reeseville, in the Town of Lowell. As presently constituted and as amended in this report the District includes all the potential wet lands served by the ditch system shown on the accompanying map. We find that the continuation of ~his District will benefit the members an~ that the benefits as determined herein are fair and equitable. Sincerely, le~e~,-inc, ( B : John A. Prunuske

3 DQrx;E COUNTY DRAINAGE COMMISSION DRAINAGE DISTRICT #:;fa- Location: Drainage District #:;fa- is located in Sectior.s 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, JO, 32 and JJ in T. 10 N. R. 14 E., in the Village of Reeseville and the Town of Lowell. The District starts at the Beaver Dam River and ends at Seven Hill Road on the North, Bobolink Road on the South and is East of Maiden Road. Drainage Area: The ditches of the ~istrict drain about 3200 acres as detennined from U.S.G.S. Topographic Maps 15 minute series. Wetlands: The areas of the various soils were obtained from J.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service Soil Maps obtained from the County S.C.S. office. Soil interpretation was taken from "Short Soil Description" by J.A. Steingraeber, dated March, Soils: Ditches: The soil types of wetlands tributary to the District are as follows: 62 Lamartine Silt Loam 63 Kokomo Silt Loam 99 Horicon Mucky Peat 1 78 Clyman Silt Loam 179 Stony Wet land 186 Scuppernong Muck 215 Elba Silty Clay Loam 231 Brookston Silt Loam 286 Scuppernong Muck 290 Ehler Silt Loam 327 Wallkill Silt Loam 328 Washtenaw Silt Loam 386 Scuppernong Mucky Peat J87 Scuppernong Mucky Peat The ditches of the District have a total length of 37,160- feet, with 25,200 feet in the main ditch and the balance in lateral ditches. + 1

4 The best soil in the District has a potential of yielding 1.50 bushels of corn per acre at $1.70 per bushel has a gross value of $ per acre; with estimated planting, fertilizing, harvest and ownership expenses at $ per acre, leaving $25.00 per acre net annually. With good drainage this yield can be anticipated on an annual basis. Without the drainage, this yield would be obtained perhaps one year out of five, so on a five year basis the additional net yield would be $100 or an average of $20.00 per acre per year, At 15% return on investment this annual gain would support an investment of $1J3.00. This compares favorably with the increase in land value from $400. to $.500. per acre undrained to $1,000. to $1,200. per acre drained, The $600. to $700. increase, however, includes an investment of $4.50. to $5.50. per acre for interior drainage, clearing, etc,, leaving a net increase of about $15).00. Therefore, the best land with high water table and frequent flooding would have a benefit of $1J3. per acre. The actual benefits are: Soil No. Factor Benefits Per Acre 62 0,3 x 1JJ $40.oo x 133 $66.oo x 133 $ o.6 x 133 $ x 133 $ & 286 o.6 x 133 $ o.6 x 133 $ o.6 x 133 $ o.6 x 133 $80.00 )27 o.6x133 $80.oo J28 o.6 x 133 $80.00 J86 o.4 x 133 $5J.OO x 1JJ $5J.OO 3
