7 Rehabilitatin and clsure f Tailing Area in MIP - Trepça Within the MIP-Trepça is a large industrial waste strage area The tailing area with hazardus industrial waste is in vicinity the river Sitnica Waste f gypsum ha Waste f pyrite ha Waste f zinc electrlyze prcess, acidic and neutral leaching and Jarsite -16 ha

8 Tailing Area in MIP - Trepça Impacts Tailing Area with hazardus waste substances cntaminates air, water and sil During the strng winds, cntaminatin is higher frm surface f tailing area and causes air pllutin in Mitrvica and surrunding area, which affects health f ppulatin Children and pregnant wmen are especially at risk Pllutin f Sitnica river resulting in a reginal prblem Expected psitive envirnmental effects Air prtectin near tailing area and in Mitrvica city as well as land prtectin and water prtectin in streams, wells and the river Sitnica.

10 STAN TRG AND ARTANA MINES Within Envirnmental and Security Initiative(EnvSec) in Suth Eastern Eurpe the fllwing prject was prpsed: Prject Title: : Feasibility Study fr Trepça Cmplex - Supprt t Industrial Ht Spt Remedatin (SHIR) in Ksv. Prject bjectives: : Envirnmental assesment and prgramme develpment fr Stan Trg and Artana mines. T set the fundatin fr a larger remediatin prgramme me by cnducting a cmprehensive assessment t determine the impact f mine prductin and prcessing n the envirnment frm tw mine sites. This prject is partly funded by CIDA/ADA Prject budget: : 94, Eur Prject status: : Implementatin started in May 2006 and will be finished in December 2006
