1 PRE FEASIBILITY REPORT 1. Introduction 1. Identification of project and project proponent The Pahanbarri Sand Quarry area is located in the Tawa River at Village- Pahanbarri, Tehsil- Itarsi & District- Hoshangabad (M.P.). The ha quarry area with production Capacity of cubic meter per year shall be operated by the lessee Gram Panchayat Pahanbarri having Office at Gram Panchayat Bhawan Pahanbaari, Tehsil-Itarsi and District-Hoshangabad M.P.) Quarry area will be sanctioned by Collector, Hoshangabad for five years period. 2. Brief description & nature of the project Sand Mining will be carried out by semi mechanized method with the help of local labours, open cast method adopting a system of shallow pit in sand. Only very light loading machines will be used for sand loading purpose only. The depth of working will be restricted to 1.2m Blasting and drilling is not required for sand mining. 3. Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region Sand has become a very important mineral for our society due to its many uses. It can be used for making concrete, filling roads, building sites, brick-making, making glass, sandpapers, reclamations, and etc. The role of sand is very vital with regards to the protection of the coastal environment. It acts as a buffer against strong tidal waves and storm surges by reducing their impacts as they reach the shoreline. Sand is also a habitat for crustacean species and other related marine organisms. Sand also plays an important role in our tourism industry as it is an integral part of our beach attractions. Each has its own requirements in respect of the quality of the sand. This sand is taken from what are essentially non-renewable resources. 4. Demand Supply gap Sand is easily available in country. 5. Imports vs. Indigenous production No import has been proposed for the sand as state as well as country has enough reserve. 6. Export possibility No export will be proposed 7. Employment generation (direct and indirect) due to the project During mining operation about 100 labors i.e. un-skilled will be required. Indirect employment - Driver, cleaner for loader & dumper/tractor loading and unloading points where labors are required.

2 2. Project description 1. Types of project: Sand was deposited in the river. 2. Location of the Project District/State Tehsil Village Khasara Area in ha Ownership of land No. Hoshangabad (M.P.) Itarsi Pahanbarri 1/ ha Tawa River bed 3. Details of alternate site: Mining is a site specific project and mineral deposit has been identified by certifying agency; hence alternative site is not applicable. 4. Size or magnitude of operation: The total quarry area is ha area and total production is proposed m3 per year through Semi mechanized Method. 5. Project description with process details: Sand Mining will be carried out by semi mechanized method with the help of local labours, open cast method adopting a system of shallow pit in sand. Only very light loading machines will be used for sand loading purpose only. The depth of working will be restricted to 1.2 m Blasting and drilling is not required for sand mining. No bench can be maintained in river sand hence bench wise mining cannot be proposed. The mineral sand is exposed all along the applied area, so there is no need of further exploration in this area. Reclamation/Backfilling: - During the rain, sand is deposit by natural way. 6 Raw Material Requirement: No raw material is required for the mining of sand. 7 Recycling and Reuse No sub grades mineral will be generated. Electric System Usage of Power will not be required for any phase of mining. 4 Solid waste management: No waste material will be generated hence waste disposal arrangements are not required. 5 Site analysis i. Connectivity: the applied area is located about 19 km district HQ hoshangabad. the nearest railway station is Gurra. The applied area is well connected with kachha road ii. 3 iii. Topography :- The area notified for sand removal is falls in the bed of Tawa River. Tawa River is Perennial River. The area is about 2.5 km North east of Pahanbarri Village. The Maximum Elevation is about 310 m and Minimum 306m from MSL. The general ground slope is towards north direction. The area is almost flat, with scanty vegetation. The climate is sub-tropical with hot summer. iv. Geology: The applied area forms a part of stream bed covered with bajari and sand deposit of channel alluvium. Mining will be concentrated up to 1.2m maximum depth of extraction sand which is confined on top most layer of sand concern QL area is belong to recent alluvial deposit. Basic rock below sand is dolomite rock. v. Existing land use pattern: Existing land use pattern of the mining lease area is river bed. Details of nearest environmental setting in the Study Area S.
