1 Background to the event The NCPC-SA, as the resource efficiency programme of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) promotes the uptake and implementation of resource efficiency and cleaner production (RECP) in industry to ensure sustainability, growth and reduced environmental impact in the manufacturing and related sectors. The NCPC-SA is hosted and implemented by the CSIR on behalf of the dti. As part of this mandate, the NCPC-SA hosts and co-hosts industry workshops and events to educate, raise awareness and create a platform for discussion and sharing on RECP. The flagship event is the bi-annual NCPC-SA conference, the first of which was held in Gauteng in March The 2015 event will be hosted at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 July Delegates to include representatives of local, provincial and national government, NGOs in various sectors, both small medium enterprises and large business in the field of manufacturing, industry, efficiency and sustainability - can look forward to a diverse and relevant programme. Highlights include: Minister of Trade and Industry Dr Rob Davies, who will deliver the keynote address at the opening plenary; International experts on resource efficiency and sustainability in industry; Panel discussions in the KwaZulu Natal branch of the Manufacturing Indaba on day one; Keynote address and discussions by the on day two; and Various technical breakaway sessions, including: energy, water, localisation, green funding, clean technology, industrial symbiosis and waste. Association with the Manufacturing Indaba The Manufacturing Indaba is a highly successful manufacturing sector event. The Manufacturing Indaba 2015 will have a roadshow to Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KZN. The Manufacturing Indaba KZN roadshow will be held in conjunction with the NCPC-SA Industrial Efficiency Conference in July Who should attend? The conference has two distinct components as well as a wide range of topics covered in the track sessions. As such a very broad appeal and relevance: 1. The Manufacturing Indaba (day 1) is the ideal opportunity for managers, CEOs, CFOs, and local and provincial government leadership to engage on issues of national and regional importance to manufacturers. 2. The energy, water, waste and productivity tracks (day 1 and 2) are relevant to manufacturing business owners, plant managers, company and consulting engineers, government officials, financing organisation officials and anyone interested in saving resources (energy, water and waste) in their business. 3. The cleantech entrepreneurship track should be attended by anyone developing or marketing clean technology, as well as financiers wishing to make a difference in the green space. 4. The green financing track (day 2) is of relevance to any and all manufacturers to give insight on how to finance the much-needed enhancement of current technologies and infrastructure.
