2 (very) Quick History In 2006 The voters approved Proposition 1B: $19.9 billion transportation bond program - The bond included $1 billion for SR-99 - $250 million for the Highway- Railroad Crossing Safety Account

6 Atwater-Merced Expressway Project Completed March 2016 $66 million Funded by Proposition 1B and MCAG Located north of Merced, south of Atwater Replaced fast lane on/off ramps at Buhach with a new interchange Constructed first phase of the AME Expressway M e r c e d C o u n t y A s s o c i a t i o n o f G o v e r n m e n t s

7 Plainsburg Freeway Project Completed Jan 2016 $77 million Funded largely by Prop 1B Located south of the City of Merced Expanded 5 miles of Hwy 99 from 4 to 6 lanes Eliminated the last at-grade crossing on Hwy 99 in Merced County Provided new interchange at Plainsburg Road M e r c e d C o u n t y A s s o c i a t i o n o f G o v e r n m e n t s

8 Arboleda Freeway Project Completed Dec 2014 $127 million Funded largely by Proposition 1B Located south of the City of Merced Expanded 8 miles of Hwy 99 from 4 to 6 lanes Removed at-grade crossing on Hwy 99 New interchange at Arboleda Road M e r c e d C o u n t y A s s o c i a t i o n o f G o v e r n m e n t s

9 G Street Underpass City of Merced Completed Dec 2011 $18 million Funded by the CTC (Prop 1B HRCSA), Merced RDA, Impact Fees and BNSF Railroad Involved the complete reconstruction of the railroad crossing Largest road project in the City's history M e r c e d C o u n t y A s s o c i a t i o n o f G o v e r n m e n t s

22 In Summary (the Good News) SR-99 Projects were delivered More Rail-Road Grade Separation Projects were delivered in the SJ Valley than any other region! The SJ Valley was a delivery machine!

23 Now the Bad News!! In June the CTC was forced to cut 700+ million from the STIP SJ Valley projects deleted: - Fresno SR-41 - Kern SR-14 - Madera SR-99 - Merced SR-152

24 In June the CTC was forced to cut 700+ million from the STIP SJ Valley projects deleted: - San Joaquin Rail double track - Tulare SR-99 - Merced SR-99 This includes over $80 million for SR-99 construction!

25 Where do we go from here? Hope that a solution/compromise/ can be developed The partnership can help by encouraging a solution be implemented

26 Where do we go from here? The reality is not only does the STIP need to be fixed but the valley is ready to implement the next $1 billion in transportation projects
