The assessment consists of investigating the exposure of contaminants in air, soil and groundwater using historical and current analytical data and GIS tools. Air and hydrogeological models of the Study Area were created to assist in the evaluation of the data. The project included working closely with the local community organization. US Army, West Point Military Academy, Highland Falls, New York Provided quality assurance/quality control for the capping on a municipal waste landfill. The landfill is part of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The activities included monitoring the placement of compacted fill, installation of synthetic liners, installation of leach ate collection system, assisting in the determination of acceptable changes in products and/or specifications, and preparation of the site closure report. Westover Air Reserve Base-439 th Airlift Wing, Chicopee, Massachusetts Provided base screening services to evaluate the subsurface soils in preparation of future upgrades to the existing fuel hydrant system. The evaluation was successfully completed and provided information on suspected spill areas, subsurface soil and groundwater conditions, and concrete thickness across the east aircraft parking ramp. NAVFAC Norfolk Navy Base, Norfolk, Virginia Provided review of annual data from 10 product recovery systems of the US Navy. The systems were associated with UST sites storing a combination of gasoline, fuel oil, and jet fuel.
