3 What is the Age of Soil? Evolution vs. Creation Biblical Worldview Evolutionary Worldview Evidence Conclusion According to the Bible, the earth is about 6,000 years old. Just because soil forms slowly today does not mean it always has. Many events can affect the rate of soil production. The biggest event was when God separated dry land (and soil) from water. One thing is certain soil was here before the end of Day 3 and the creation of plants. Conclusion The soil is millions of years old. It currently takes between 100 and 1,000 years to make one inch of topsoil. Therefore, it has always taken that long.

Earth s 3 Natural Resources Natural resources come from the sun, earth, plants and animals. All living things depend on natural resources to survive. Renewable resources can be replaced fairly quickly. Some renewable resources are water, trees, soil, and sunlight Solar energy is the energy (light and heat) given off by the Sun. Soil is made from rock, humus, organisms, air, water and minerals. Additional soil is made by weathering, erosion and deposition at a rate of a few centimeters per 1,000 years. Soil is used for more than farming. It can be used as a material for making tile, pottery and even glass.

4 Resources for Energy 1. Some nonrenewable resources are metal ores and fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil and coal. 2. Petroleum is the name for any liquid fuel formed from ancient dead and buried organisms (fossils). 3. People can conserve and recycle non-renewable resources to help them last longer

5 Technology in the Bible Reference Genesis 4:22a (NASB) Exodus 14:6 (NASB) Jeremiah 31:21a (NASB) 1 Kings 7:33a (NASB) 2 Kings 18:17b (NASB) Scripture As for Zillah, she also gave birth to Tubal-cain, the forger of all implements of bronze and iron. So he made ready his chariot and took his people with him. Set up for yourself roadmarks, place for yourself guideposts; Direct your mind to the highway, the way by which you went... The workmanship of the wheels was like the workmanship of a chariot wheel. And when they went up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is on the highway of the fuller s field.

Earth s 5 Technology The sun is a powerful source of renewable energy. Its energy can be captured and converted into electricity by solar cells. Wind is another source of renewable energy. Windmills can capture the energy of the wind to do work, or convert it into electricity. Flowing water (usually through a dam) can be used to capture energy, as well. Technology is any invention or new way of doing things that makes life easier. Many medical technologies have improved the care doctors can give people.

6 Technology Help in Communication and Transportation Messages that are sent and received electronically are called telecommunications. Technology has taken written communication from the Pony Express to telegraphs to mail to and instant messaging. Vehicles (things that move people or cargo) have changed drastically due to technology. The wheel was the first big invention, but now we have trains that float above their tracks by the power of magnets!
