CTP ON-LINE TREATMENT OF FIRED HEATERS THE NEUTRAMEX PROCESS

Consequences of a fouled heater Tube skin temperature Flue gas exit temperature Corrosion damaging Fuel oil consumption CO2 emissions Throughput

CTP on-line Neutramex process The NEUTRAMEX process is a patented online cleaning method specifically designed for fired heaters. The cleaning action is obtained by spraying a granules directly onto the tube bundles.

The Neutramex process : A double action on the deposit NEUTRAMEX is a mixture of mild alkaline chemicals which neutralises the different acidic components of the deposit layer. The acid/base type reaction thus induces partial degradation of the deposit. The mechanical action of the pressurised air jet enables to blow and eliminate the deposit.

The Neutramex properties The NEUTRAMEX chemical features : a high cleaning efficiency within a short period no hazard (biodegradable and non-toxic), no EEC classification for transport or storage no atmospheric pollution emission no degradation of metal tubing no residue after thermal degradation (product 100% sublimated)

The on-line NEUTRAMEX process has been designed by CTP after a preliminary study carried out in collaboration with the CNRS (the French National Centre for Scientific Research)

The Neutramex Process : Tested & approved by Shell Global Solutions In order to quantify the results from the on-line treatment with our new NEUTRAMEX chemical product, the efficiency of a platformer furnace has been monitored by Shell Global Solutions before and after a cleaning operation with our process. The relevant gas emissions have also been measured to evaluate the environmental impact of the gases generated during the treatment.

Thermographic pictures before and after an on-line Neutrmex treatment BEFORE AFTER Extract of the report : CONCLUSION The injection of NEUTRAMEX into the radiant zone enabled excellent cleaning of the tube bundle and an efficiency gain of 6%.

NOx (ppm) Environmental impact of Neutramex 200 NOx measurements during NEUTRAMEX Injections NOx Mean Value (ppm) :00 14:30 14:55 15:05 15:12 15:30 16:07 16:30 Time Extract of the report : CONCLUSION The atmospheric pollution measurements during NEUTRAMEX injections showed that NEUTRAMEX respected the administration standard threshold for NOx emissions.

Neutramex chemical on tubes The effect of the NEUTRAMEX on the tubes corrosion has been evaluated by Rhodia Recherche & Technologie. The NEUTRAMEX has no significant action on general corrosion and, thanks to a chlorine and sulphur free formulation, on corrosion cracking.

Neutramex chemical action on refractory linings A study has concluded that the NEUTRAMEX has no chemical action on refractory linings.

Preliminary visit of the facilities by CTP A preliminary inspection is necessary to make sure the process can be applied in optimum conditions. Example : The access doors to the furnace must be reachable BEFORE AFTER Access door required

Usable accesses Here are some examples of suitable accesses to apply the NEUTRAMEX process

Safety Strict delimitation of the work area Qualified operators (N1 or N2 training) Secured equipment (ejector with pressure relief valve, hoses connections secured with an antilash system, grounded spraying ejector... )

CTP operators injecting Neutramex CTP operators wear special safety equipment : a safety overall, an aluminized safety coat, heat resistant helmet and gloves, and safety shoes.

Conclusion Encompassing 20 years of experience and more than 900 successful on-line treatments in more than 65 refineries, CTP is constantly searching for new solutions to enhance its processes and chemical cleaning products. Today, our latest technological improvement, the new on-line NEUTRAMEX process, enables to gather 3 essential parameters: Treatment efficiency acknowledged by experts, Safe process, No environmental impact. We remain at your disposal for the adaptation of our solutions to your needs.
