2012 Safety Statistics 2012 Statistics 6 OSHA Recordable Injuries (all categorized as Strain/Sprain/Pain) - Focus is being placed on Human Performance tools and training. Injury Body Location 9 Back/Shoulder 3 OSHA 7 Knee/Leg 2 OSHA 10 Hand/Finger 1 OSHA

Safety Focus 2012 on Sprains/Strains/Pains Outside of RCA for mgmt attention Added senior mgmt team observation program modeled after Ford Motor Co. This is in addition to formal daily mgmt observations. Stretching, limbering, getting mechanical advantage for work Proper equipment, proper use of equipment Human Performance tools; attention span, work planning involvement of craft (weekly safety meetings focus) Murphy s up ysalley Training 4

Reactor Segmentation The major components of the reactors are: The reactor vessel (RV); and The reactor internals (RVI) RV and RVI now require remote cutting because of the levels of radioactivity All segmentation performed in reactor cavity Internals under water Vessel dry (after cavity draining) All cuts performed mechanically (currently)

Reactor Segmentation Upper and Lower Internals Assemblies Cutting Reactor Internals Reactor Vessel Reactor Internals 2pieces Upper and Lower Internals Cut under water Assembled Reactor 17

Tooling (1) Volume Reduction Station Located in Upper Refueling Cavity Used for size reduction of ring sections VRS in Mock-Up Test Facility 18

Tooling (2) Circumferential Hydraulically Operated Cutting Equipment Used for segmenting cylindrical components prior to size reduction on the VRS Supported from the internal surface of the core barrel CHORCE 19

Tooling (3) Bolt Milling Tool Used to remove the core baffle plates (GTCC) by milling off the bolt heads Located in the position via pegs in lower core plate holes BMT installed in lower internals BMT 20

Compliance - National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System NPDES To comply with the Clean Water Act Primary Inputs Storm Water Roof Drains WWTP Oil/Water Separators Turbine Building Sump 36

Risk Management Protecting Lake Michigan Implement Best Management Practices (BMPs) for stormwater drains Oil/Water Separators 2 x 42,000 gal liquid capacity SWPPP for construction activities related to: Railroad Refurbishment VCC Pad ISFSI Pad 37

Stewardship Biodiversity Protection Illinois Beach State Park located on the North and South side of the property. p Examples of Wildlife Protection Canada Goose and Goslings Blanding s Turtle Inspections and Notifications Snakes Fox Snake Garter Snakes 38

Canada Goose and Gosling Rescue A pair of Canada Geese nested on a roof top IDNR inspected the nest site and advised Six Goslings were rescued from the roof top and relocated to the lake front After several minutes the mother goose flew from the roof top to the lake front. The gander stood a 39 protective watch from a distance.

Snake Rescue and Release Snakes rescued from railroad tracks scheduled to be repaired as part of the decommissioning work. Environmental coordinated efforts with: IDNR Lake Forest Wildlife Discover Center College of Lake County Biology Professor High School Teacher/Local Resident During the Spring, the rescued snakes were returned to an artificial den. The den is located at the Illinois Beach State Park, north of the original snake den location. 40
