SIZEWELL C PROJECT DIRECTORS REPORT Jim Crawford Sizewell C Project Development Director & Deputy CEO, Bradwell B

Sizewell C The Journey So Far 5

Stage 3 Consultation Early 2019 Public Consultations events from early 2019 Public events across the area including Leiston, Theberton, Middleton, Sizewell, Wickham Market and Darsham detailed confirmation later this year Based on latest thinking on transport, workforce & accommodation aimed at minimising disruption & ensuring positive legacy benefits 6

Why Sizewell C Should be Next The case for building Sizewell C is getting stronger. The development of the station is necessary for the UK s energy future: Sizewell C will be competitive with other low-carbon technologies The risk (hence the cost of finance) will be reduced with four reactors of same design operating by the time construction would begin The cost of building Sizewell C will be reduced by using a mature UK supply chain. High % of UK companies in Sizewell C supply chain much higher than other technologies Sizewell C will provide highly skilled and well-paid employment & contracts for local businesses Sizewell C will have very low connection cost. 7

Benefits for the East of England Sizewell C will be a catalyst for development of top-end engineering, construction and manufacturing across the region The East of England is the only region with the potential for two new nuclear projects UK businesses secured 64% of total construction spend on Hinkley Point C The Sizewell C project could create 1000 apprenticeships during construction So far, 1,300 companies from this region have registered on our supply chain portal Regional economic benefit could be up to 200m per year during construction with total of 4 billion over the lifetime. 8

Sizewell C Planning Update At the last Community Forum we reported on feedback received from Sizewell C Stage 2 Consultation. That feedback has now been fully reviewed and will be taken into account for Sizewell C Stage 3 Consultation. The following slides provide an overview of the work currently being undertaken to inform Stage 3 Consultation. We will not be commenting on what proposals may be included at Stage 3 Consultation. 9

Community Engagement and Outreach The SZC team has been busy since the last Community Forum meeting stakeholders with an interest in the project development. We met more than 4,000 people at this year s Suffolk Show. The team ran an exhibition stand and took part in a Science centre led by the County Council. We also engaged with a wide range of stakeholders including the County and District Councils, the Chamber of Commerce, local landowners and representatives from the region s leading colleges. 10

Community Engagement and Outreach Since the last Community Forum the SZC team has engaged in more than 200 meetings, events and conferences. Jim Crawford made a keynote speech at the region s largest energy conference, and the team discussed the project with more than 400 supply chain companies at the event. The team continues to support community events and has just contacted 18 successful applicants to the SZC Community Fund. The team can be contacted at the Leiston office, or via info@sizewellc.co.uk 11
