EUROPEAN COMMISSION CALLS H2020 WITH JOINT INVOLVEMENTS - Example 1: like EUROSUNMED - Example 2: ERASMUS+ Project Title: Strengthening Higher Education in the Field of Solar Energy in South-Mediterranean Countries by enhancing the links to business and applied research Project acronym: MEDSOL

Background - Rational Still 1.2 billion people (17%) live without electricity (World Bank) - 2/3 in rural areas of Africa and Asia Since 1990 the progress has been modest, and to achieve electricity for everyone by 2030, the expansion rate has to double In developed countries electricity demand is higher than supply and prices are increasing at high rates Overall, only about 20% of the electricity comes from renewable sources (EU and Worldwide) The EU share is expected to increase to 40% in 2020, and it may increase to 60% in 2030 and 90% in 2050, according to the EREC and others, in the World it will increase to 25% in 2018 (IEA) No single solution is expected to meet the demand, with several technologies operating in parallel, both at micro- and large-scale

Solar Electricity Production

Coming Proposals Be prepared for next calls / ERASMUS projects Choice of HEIs from UNIMED Focus on a specific topic (ICTs, energy, water, health, medecine, )
