1 SABINE RIVER AUTHORITY OF TEXAS TO: FROM: RE: INTERESTED PARTIES ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DIVISION OCTOBER 27 MONTHLY WATER QUALITY REPORT The Environmental Services Field Offices conducted water quality monitoring in the Sabine Basin from October 8 th through the 1 th. The results of the field monitoring are presented in this report and additional laboratory results will be included in the annual Sabine Basin Water Quality Report. Sabine Basin Tidal (Including Tributaries) Weather - Weather conditions in the Tidal Basin prior to the sample event were warm. High temperatures were in the upper 8s. Low temperatures in the area ranged from the mid 6s to the low 7s. The tidal stations received.37 inches of rainfall in the seven days prior to sampling. Tidal Conditions - Surface salinities were found at all but one Tidal station. The largest salinity value, 15.6 ppt, was found at Sabine River station SRT1 at 1.2. Lower Sabine Basin (Toledo Bend Reservoir and Below) Weather - Weather conditions in the Lower Basin prior to the sample event were warm. High temperatures ranged from the upper 8s to low 9s. Low temperatures in the area ranged from the mid 6s to the low 7s. Toledo Bend received.39 inches of rainfall during the week prior and during the sampling week. Lake Level - The level of Toledo Bend Reservoir was recorded at feet with 174 cfs discharge at the time of sampling. Toledo Bend Reservoir stations were stratified in vertical profile samples. Anoxic conditions were found at several of the deeper lake sites below 6 to 1. Upper Sabine Basin (Lake Tawakoni, Lake Fork Reservoir, and the River Above Toledo Bend) Weather - Recent weather (previous seven days) in the upper Sabine River Basin was warm, with daytime highs in the upper 7s to low 9s and lows in the low 6s to low 7s at Lake Tawakoni and at Lake Fork. Lake Tawakoni received no rain and Lake Fork received.5 inches of rain the week preceding the sample run. Lake Levels - The level of Lake Tawakoni was feet msl with a 6 cfs release with no rain recorded seven days prior to sampling. The level of Lake Fork was 43.2 feet msl with a 19 cfs release with.5 inches of rain recorded seven days prior to sampling. Lake Tawakoni and Lake Fork Reservoir stations were stratified in vertical profile samples. This Report and additional data for these monitoring stations are available on our World Wide Web site ( If you have any questions or comments concerning this report, please contact: Miles Hall, Environmental Services Division Manager (mhall@sratx.org) Lower and Tidal Sabine Basin Jerry Wiegreffe, Lower Basin Field Office Coordinator (jwiegreffe@sratx.org) Upper Sabine Basin Terry Wilson, Upper Basin Field Office Coordinator (twilson@sratx.org)
