2 Active Beamer (ABM) 222 H uses an -water system cnfiguratin. It cmbines the aerdynamic prperties f ceiling diffusers with the energy benefits f lad dissipatin using water. In additin t cnsiderable energy saving, its advantages include imprved indr envirnment quality, reduced space requirement, cst reductin, lw acustic signature and s n. Prvided well refined distributed system integratin technlgies and advanced cndensatin avidance cntrl strategies, ABM 222 H can strictly avid cndensatin phenmenn and becme an ideal slutin fr applicatins such as ffice rms, landscape ffices, team rms, etc. Due t its less weight and lw height cnstructin, ABM 222 H is particularly suited fr lw false ceiling vid in new buildings and fr retrfit f existing buildings with limited clear rm height. Special characteristics f ABM 222 H are: High entrainment rati and capacity Lw sund pwer level Adapted t flush-munting in T-bar ceiling and cncealed mdular ceiling Three ptins f inductin nzzle Optimized heat exchanger water circuitry arrangement ½ inch insulatin cver fr thermal lss and acustic attenuatin Detachable inductin grille fr ease f maintenance Adjustable fresh flw rate frm 10 t 60 l/s with dedicated functin mdule (ptinal) Heating and/r cling with fur pipe heat exchanger (ptinal) Mre infrmatin n design and applicatins f active terminal can be fund n the website and named Guidelines fr Design and Applicatins f Active Air Terminal. Furthermre, an autmatic selectin prgram fr active terminal is als available nline fr end users. Functin Descriptin ABM 222 H incrprates ducted cnnectins t receive pretreated supply frm a central handling unit. The is injected thrugh a series f nzzles. Rm is then entrained thrugh a high free area sectin and acrss the integral heat exchanger where it is recnditined in respnse t a space thermstat demand. The recnditined then mixes with the mary and is discharged int the space by means f linear slts lcated bth sides f the beam. The ttal supply quantity delivered by ABM 222 H is the sum f the mary and secndary quantities. Primary sensible heating and/r cling capacity is usually arund 40-60% f the ttal sensible capacity, while the secndary usually represents the rest 40-60%.

The heat exchanger is factry tested with a burst pressure rating f 130 bar at 50 C Installatin Figure 5 ABM 222 H installatin diagram 1 ABM 222 H is cnnected t the ceiling by means f M10 threaded rd. M10 threaded rds are apprately tightened t the munting brackets f unit using washer and nut. Wires can als be used t hang it.

6 Figure 6 ABM 222 H installatin diagram 2 Figure 7 ABM 222 H installatin diagram 3 Determine the psitin and rientatin f the beam in ceiling grid. Determine the psitin and length f the threaded t be installed. Drill hles accrdingly and secure the threaded rds with M10 washer and nut. Psitin the beam in accrdance with the duct and water pipe cnnectins. The beam must be raised t a psitin abve T-bar ceiling grid. The threaded rds are inserted int the munting brackets and secured with M10 washer and nut. It is then lwered int T-bar ceiling grid. Once the psitin is fixed, the M10 nuts are tightened. Additinal channel beams can be added t prvide three degrees f freedm fr the beam psitining.

7 Once it is fixed, the duct and water pipe cnnectins are dne. The spigt is cnnected t the supply duct by means f a flexible duct less than 1m in length. Sharp bends in flexible ducts must be avided and straightness f flexible duct is highly recmmended. Psitin the cntrl and balancing valves fr water pipe cnnectins, accrding t the design drawings. Water pipe cnnectin can be made either with barrel unins r with a push-n fit. Flexible pipes are used fr push-n fit and fixed length pipes are used fr barrel unins. Prper care shuld be taken while tightening the barrel unins t avid fracture in pipe due t excessive frce. Ducts and pipes shuld be prperly cvered by industrial standard insulatrs. *Installatin f ABM 222 H must be dne by trained persnnel. Cmmissining Figure 8 ABM 222 H sampling tube psitin The plenum static pressure is measured t cmmissin the mary flw. The static pressure is measured using the sampling tube. Unplug the cver prvided in the beam and insert the sampling tube apprately. Pressure measurements have t be made accurately t evaluate the mary flw rate frm prerecrded data.

8 A balancing valve is used t cmmissin the water flw. The balancing valve is adjusted in rder t achieve the require water flw rate. The water flw rate and plenum pressure are adjusted t the desired value t achieve the prerecrded capacity. *Cmmissining f ABM 222 H must be dne by trained persnnel. Maintenance Figure 9 ABM 222 H cleaning As ABM 222 H is free frm mvable parts, cleaning the heat exchanger is the nly prcess required t maintain it. Heat exchanger must be cleaned with an industrial class vacuum cleaner annually. Care must be taken t clean the heat exchanger withut damaging its fins. Visual inspectin f heat exchanger every 6 mnths is recmmended, depending upn the cleanliness f indr envirnment. Detachable inductin grille prvides access t the heat exchanger. The inductin grille is attached t the beam by means f hinges. The hinges are accessed t swing dwn the inductin grille. After vacuuming the heat exchanger, the inductin grille must be brught back t its initial psitin gently. *The maintenance f ABM 222 H must be dne by trained persnnel. Nmenclature

12 Selectin Methdlgy During selectin, the amunt f mary must be sufficient fr ventilatin and latent lad requirements, while sensible lad requirement can be satisfied by bth mary and chilled water. 1) The selectin f ABM 222 H is based n the abve perfrmance tables and figures. The listed cling/heating capacities are valid nly under the reference values. 2) If there are different perating cnditins t the reference nes, crrectins must be applied using the diagrams and tables as well. 3) Users are able t use ur Active Air Terminal Selectin Prgram t make easy selectin and distributin design by requirements. Case Study Given a typical living lab: Rm width: 4.8m Rm depth: 10.6m Rm height: 3.6m Occupancy: 5 persns Cling lad: 75W/m 2 Rm temperature (summer): 26 Cnditined fresh temperature: 16 Chilled water flw temperature: 16 Fresh flw rate demand: Building: 1.0(l/s)/m2 Persns: 10(l/s)/persn 55.88m 2 *1(l/s)/m2=55.88l/s 5 persns * 10(l/s)/persn= 50l/s Ttal =105.88l/s Sensible cling lad: 55.88m 2 * 75w/m 2 = 4191w

It shuld be nted that n matter water mary r chilled water capacity crrectin factrs are nt used here. Hwever, if the designed cnditins are different frm thse referenced testing cnditins, the prvided crrectins shuld be used. Fr example, the riginal sensible cling lad prvided by mary is 357w. If the mary temperature is 15 rather than 16, the actual temperature difference becmes 11 and the crrected sensible cling capacity f mary is 393W (357*1.1). Similarly, the sensible cling capacity prvided by secndary water is 713W. If the chilled water temperature is 17 rather 16, the actual temperature difference between the water and space is 9 and the sensible cling capacity f the secndary water has t be crrected as 642W (857*0.9).
