Green Business Challenge Accomplishments for 2014 Our Core of Directors formed a company-wide Green Team across all company functions. We established a company-approved no-idling plan in our parking lot. This has proved to be VERY challenging, as most transportation companies will not turn off their vehicles. Establish a 10% company-approved waste reduction plan. We have definitely reduced our waste by 10% if not more. See below- under Innovations. Complete a green purchasing policy addressing at least one of the following: office paper, janitorial paper and cleaning supplies, or catering services. Third Degree has switched to Pedro s Planet for our supplies! Establish a 10% company-approved energy reduction plan. Third Degree staff has agreed to turn down thermostats until days with Events.

Green Business Challenge Accomplishments for 2014 Third Degree completed a lighting audit to identify energy conservation potentials with fellow Green Business Challenge business- Metro Lighting. We are switching to new lights as old ones burn out. Third Degree has purchased two new ENERGY STAR-rated products since joining the Green Business Challenge. Provide a sustainability education workshop or program for staff. We started off with the Terracycle program that was a HIT! We typically talk about the Green Business Challenge at every other Staff Meeting. Installed a composting collection site for our employees. Office recycling was in place. See below for recycling efforts for events.

Green Business Challenge Accomplishments for 2014 Eliminate plastic bottles for use in corporate meeting and events and replace with refillable serving options. Third Degree invested in water canister and 6oz. recyclable plastic cups. We use a smaller ounce cup, as most don t drink more than 6 ounces at one time and the rest goes to wast. and use it all events. We also discourage our caterers from selling table side water service as most of the water goes to waste. Convert to use of a minimum 30% recycled paper content for office paper or janitorial paper products. Third Degree also switched to green cleaning products. Third Degree now orders from Pedro s Planet and has switched to recycled paper.

Green Business Challenge Accomplishments for 2014 Replace 10% of low-efficiency lighting with high efficiency lighting such as compact fluorescent or T-8 or LED lamps. Install on-site renewable energy or purchase renewable energy credits. Third Degree is part of the Pure Power Program.

Green Business Challenge Innovations for 2014 Installed a composting program for staff only. Signed up and started a Terracycle Program for all chip bags and wrappers. Better communicated with our guests and vendors how to sort waste by labeling all our trashcans as either landfill or recycling. As a result, we ve had to switch our trash pick ups from two times a week for landfill and one time a week for recycling to two times a week for recycling and one time a week for recycling.

Green Business Challenge Innovations for 2014 Drafted and sending a letter in January 2015 to all preferred caterers that all disposables, must be 1-5 or 7 recyclable plastic. All managers are to walk through our sustainability practices with all vendors and clients. Encourage guests to use our one-of-kind glass pieces as centerpieces, instead of flowers, which usually get thrown out after the event.
