Daily Field Report # 01 Project George Fitton School Date April 6, 2017 Location rd St, Brandon, MB File No Inspector Larry Rech Inspection Time 11:00 a.m. Weather at time of inspection: Today s Operations: A pre-bid meeting was conducted on site at this time. During this time I did a general review of the specifications, drawings and site conditions. The following are comments regarding various items noted at this time:.01 The large air conditioning unit currently on Area A1 sits on a concrete pad. The concrete pad will of course have to be removed and a new covered curb assembly fabricated and sealed and the unit set back in place. It should be noted that any covered curb assemblies for mechanical equipment should always have a sheet metal cover flashing to protect from various chemical spills that could happen as the result of a failure of the unit..02 The electrical disconnect for the same unit is currently attached to the concrete slab and should be reattached to the side of the new covered curb when fabricated. The electrical for the same unit again is currently sealed with a pitch box and should be carried in through the side of a covered curb..03 Immediately adjacent to the large air conditioning unit on Area A1, is a chimney that protrudes through the top of a very large curb. The existing curb should be discarded and a smaller curb installed and then a new storm collar and skirt flashing installed. The new skirt flashing should have a wide enough flange to be folded a minimum of 1 down all sides of the curb..04 There are quite a few old round duct style vent hoods on the various roofs. These should all be discarded and replaced with new insulated goose neck vent hoods..05 The bottom of the access ladder going up to Area D1.5 will likely have to be cut off to accommodate the insulation and new roofing on Area C1..06 The northwest section of Area F1 has been problematic. This is immediately adjacent to the west side of Area D1.5. A roof divider could be installed from the southwest corner of Area D1.5 to the west parapet of Area F1. Internal drains could then be installed in the newly created area and sloped insulation installed in a similar manner to that already being specified for the remaining areas. The divider between Area F1

and the adjoining walls should possibly be fully insulated as it is likely under-insulated. A new air barrier membrane can be carried from the slightly higher roofs down to Area F1 to ensure the continuity of the roof/wall barrier system..07 Any no-longer used down pipes and splash pads should be removed and discarded. The walls should be painted a matching color in the location where the down pipes were removed. The landscaping should be properly repaired where any old splash pads are removed. No further items of concern were noted at this time. Copies to: Brandon School Division Mel Clark PSFB - Angleo ew

Photo # 1 This photo shows an overview of roof Area A1. The large unit in the foreground is sitting on a concrete slab and requires the installation of a covered curb for support to replce the concrete slab. Photo # 2 This photo shows a close up view of the same unit. Also notice that the electrical disconnect switch is attached to the concrete slab and should be connected to the side or top of a covered curb. Also the large electrical feed into the pitch box should be carried in through the side of a covered curb.

Photo # 3 This photo shows a view of the chimney adjacent to the same unit on Area A1. A smaller curb should be fabricated when the roof is replaced and a new storm collar and skirt flashing installed. Photo # 4 This photo shows another partial view of Area A1. The old duct vents should be replaced with new goose neck vent hoods.

Photo # 5 This photo shows a view of roof Area B1.5. Photo # 6 This photo shows a partial view of roof Area C1.

Photo # 7 This photo shows another partial view of roof Area C1. Once again notice the two old ducts that should be replaced with new goose neck vent hoods. Photo # 8 This photo shows the remaining portion of roof Area C1.5.

Photo # 9 This photo shows the south end of Area A1. All the old duct style hoods should be replaced with new insulated goose neck hoods. Photo # 10 This photo shows another view of the south end of roof Area C1.

Photo # 11 This photo shows a partial view of roof Area D1.5. This roof is not included in the current scope of work. Photo # 12 This photo shows the remaining portion of roof Area D1.5. The existing ladder is to remain. The bottom will have to be shortened to accommodate the new roof on Area C1.

Photo # 13 This photo shows a partial view of roof Area G1.5. Photo # 14 This photo shows the remaining portion of roof Area G1.5.

Photo # 15 This photo shows a view of the link roof designated Area H1. Photo # 16 This photo shows a partial view of roof Area F1 which is currently not in the current scope of work but the area in the foreground may be possibly replaced as it has been problematic.

Photo # 17 This photo shows another partial view of the questionable section of roofing on Area F1. Photo # 18 This photo shows the connection between Area F1 and G1.5.

Photo # 19 This photo shows the remaining main portion of roof Area F1. Photo # 20 This photo shows another partial view of Area F1.

Photo # 21 This photo shows one of the existing down pipes and splash pads. Any old no longer used down pipes and splash pads should be removed and the wall painted to match as well as the land scaping repaired where the splash pads are removed. Photo # 22 This photo shows a close up view of the ladder going to Area D1.5. once again, this will have to be shortened slightly.

Photo # 23 This photo shows the ladder going up to Area B1.5 which is to be replaced under the current scope of work.
