11 Necessity for Recycling EU Recommendations for a Circular Economy» Support for the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) by the plenary sitting in March 2017» Goal to increase recycling rate from 22,5% to 60% by 2025» Duration of implementation will differ from country to country» Producers of plastic packaging will play an important role: definition of a clear role of products in the end-of-life-phase. 13 Recyclability Why do we want to get active here?» European Commission By 2030, all plastics packaging placed on the EU market is either reusable or can be recycled in a cost-effective manner. [ ] The Commission will work on a revision of the essential requirements for placing packaging on the market. The objective will be to ensure that, by 2030, all plastics packaging placed on the EU market is reusable or easily recycled.» FMCG companies [ ] the Ellen MacArthur Foundation announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the list of leading brands, retailers, and packaging companies working towards using 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025 or earlier has grown to 11 [ ] together representing more than 6 million tonnes of plastic packaging per year.
