BHD. 1) Introduction The proposed development is situated on Lot 45172, Persiaran Sierra 2, Bandar 16 Sierra, Mukim Dengkil, Daerah Sepang, Negeri Selangor Darul Ehsan. Lush Development Sdn. Bhd. is the developer for the project. The development comprises of 336 no. of townhouses and 1 unit of one-storey management office. Perunding RekaCeKap Sdn Bhd has been appointed as the Civil and Structural Consultant to provide engineering consulting services for the entire development. 2) Objective The objective of this report is to present the detail design and analysis of the water reticulation for the proposed townhouses development on Sierra 12 which is located within the entire development of lot ) Source of Water The main source of water is tee-off from 500mm diameter pipe supply to the entire development along Persiaran 2, which the design of the pipeline has included water demand for future development of Sierra 12. Design supply pressure available at teeoff point for Sierra 12 is 89.5m ODL. Approval for the incoming main serving developments on Sierra 12 is attached in Appendix A (Ref. No.: SYA/NPD/DD/SPG/DGKL/PT4466/12(00360). 4) Water Demand Calculation The water demand for Sierra 12 is shown in Table 1 below: Development Demand (lpd) Unit Total (lpd) Townhouses 1, ,000 Management Office 192m2 1000/100m2 1,920 Total daily demand (lpd) 505,920 Table 1: Water Demand for Sierra 12 Page1

5) Water Distribution System The water supply system to this development is divided as follows: 250mm diameter incoming pipe tapped from the external 500mm diameter pipe along Persiaran 2. Water supply to the townhouses (total 336 units) will be via a series of 200mm and 150mm diameter pipe network system. Each townhouse will have individual storage tank. The layout of the water supply system is shown schematically in Appendix B. 6) Design Criteria The design for water reticulation is in accordance to the SYABAS s Design guidelines, April, Water Reticulation The water reticulation is designed in accordance to the followings guidelines: (a) Maximum head loses gradient not more than 2:1000 for Peak flow analysis. (b) The C value used in Hazen-William formula is 100. (c) The Peak Flow factor used shall be 1.2 for supply to service reservoir and 2.5 for the reticulation main. (d) The design flow for the reticulation mains shall be the greater of the peak flow or the average flow plus the fire flow. (e) Minimum residual head above the highest supply level (HSL) should not less than 7.62m based on peak flow analysis for each node where supply is directly from SYABAS main. (f) Minimum residual pressure above the highest supply level shall (HSL) not be less than 4.57m based on peak flow analysis for each node where supply is directly from elevated storage tank. (g) Minimum residual pressure at any node shall not be less than 7.62m from platform level based on average flow plus fire flow analysis. (h) Maximum residual pressure at any node shall not be more than 30.0m for both peak flow and fire flow analysis. (i) For average flow plus fire flow analysis, one draw-off point of hydrant at 300 gpm (22.73 lps) is used. (j) Minimum pipe size of reticulation main shall be 150mm diameter. Page2

7) Water Reticulation Design Two analyses have been performed: - (i) Peak flow analysis with Peak Flow Factor (P.F.F.) of 2.5 (ii) Average flow plus fire flow analysis {1 hydrant with 300 gpm (22.73lps) draw-off} The following criteria are to be met: a. Minimum residual head above the highest supply level (HSL) shall be 4.57m based on peak flow analysis for each node where supply is directly from elevated storage tank. b. Minimum residual head at any node shall be more than 7.62m based on average flow plus fire flow analysis. c. Maximum head losses gradient not more than 2:1000 for Peak Flow Analysis. d. Maximum velocity shall be less than 2.6 m/s for both peak flow analysis and fire flow analysis. Analysis The network analysis for distribution system is using Hardy Cross method and Hazen- Williams equation:- H f = 10.7 Q 1.85 C 1.85 D 4.87 Where H f = frictional head loss in meter Q = flow in pipe - m 3 /s C = pipe coefficient, 100 D = internal diameter of pipe, meter Page3

Summary of results: a) Peak Flow and Fire Flow analysis:- Node Table 1: Summary for Peak Flow Analysis Highest Supply Hydraulic Level HSL Residual Head (m) (m) Head (m) Remark Tapping point OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK Page4

Node Table 2: Summary for Fire Flow Analysis Highest Supply Hydraulic Level HSL Residual Head (m) (m) Head (m) Remark Tapping point OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK The results of the analysis (Table 1 & 2) show that: 1) The residual head above the Highest Supply Level (HSL) at any node is more than 4.57m for Peak Flow Analysis where supply is directly from elevated water tank. 2) The residual head above the reduced level (platform level) at any node is more than 7.62m for Average Flow plus Fire Flow Analysis. 3) The maximum residual head at any node is less than 30m for both Peak Flow Analysis and Fire Flow Analysis. 8) Conclusion The proposed water reticulations for the entire development comply with SYABAS design guidelines and requirements as shown in drawings reference number PRC/21310/WS/1.
