4 WORKSHOPS Pre-Conference Workshop: Monday, 20 May am 5pm Developing and Implementing Successful Projects Having no project in place, there is significant lack of expertise on the end-to-end project and implementation. This practical workshop will explore the design and technical issues surrounding an project. The workshop will course through pre-feed and due diligence processes as a guideline/case study and work through the issues of a midscale LNG project from subsea well head to product offloading. The workshop will run the following sessions: History of & overview of issues Subsea Gas Processing Liquefaction processes and their suitability Offloading LNG, LPG and condensate Storage of LNG The vessel Safety and hazard assessment About Your Workshop Leader: John Preedy, Consultant, UK Dr John Preedy is the Director of the Course and Senior Consultant. He worked for BP for 28 years as a Research Associate and Team Leader, working on Feasibility Studies and acting as trouble shooter covering all aspects of BP s businesses. These covered field projects in the North Sea, and several novel resource recovery techniques which were taken from Concept to Field Pilot trials in Canada. His specific work in the offshore area covered Subsea Robotics/Automation, Seabed Production Concepts, Seabed Excavation Methods, Underwater Repair Techniques, Flexible Riser Studies and Maintenance Cost Reductions. After leaving BP in 1992, he has continued working in the offshore oil industry through Azur Offshore Limited, including activities in the assessment of Emerging and Novel Technologies, Technical and Economic Audits, Deepwater Studies, Production Sharing Agreement Evaluations, Safety and Environmental issues. Clients have included Chevron UK, BP Exploration, British Gas, Technomare, Trident Consultants, Fina UK and Cameron France. John is a regular University lecturer at Cranfield School of Industrial Sciences (UK) and is a course Group Project external examiner for Cranfield. He also lectures on offshore oil industry activities at ENSIETA (France), the Technical University of Delft (Holland) and the Northern Territory University in Darwin (Australia). He is an active member of the UK Society for Underwater (SUT) and serves on their Subsea Engineering and Operations Committee. Post-Conference Workshop: Thursday, 23 May am 5pm Commercializing Small-Midscale is a solution to monetize stranded gas reserves. However, there is a lack of operational best practices making investment attraction, financing and risk allocation a considerable challenge. While there is no in place, most look at the Shell Prelude as a model. However, there are great business opportunities in commercializing small offshore gas reserves. To facilitate the right investment decision, developers need to understand the commercial opportunities, challenges and strategies to monetizing offshore gas reserves of various sizes. This workshop aims to cover the following topics: Evaluating business models for small-midscale Traditional FPSO vs. Contracting methods Cost-benefit analysis of monetizing small-midscale gas reserves Commercial issues for small-midscale project Managing internal and external stakeholders in an Project lifecycle About Your Workshop Leader: Karthik Satyamoorthy, Head of Asia-Pacific, Galway Group LP, Singapore Karthik joined Galway s Singapore office in 2011 with over a decade of techno-commercial and consulting experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining Galway, Karthik had an excellent career with a wide range of commercial Gas and LNG experience from Wood Mackenzie, HSBC and Crisil Infrastructure Advisory. Karthik has worked on number of consulting assignments relating to Gas/LNG markets, contracting, commercial negotiations, corporate strategy and competitive business environment projects for IOCs and NOCs across Middle East and Asia Pacific. Karthik holds an Electrical Engineering degree and a MBA in Oil and Gas Management.
