CONTENT CONTENT Hydrogen in South Tyrol Scope of IIT Shareholder of IIT Projects The hydrogen project Bolzano The hydrogen highway project Munich-Modena

1. H 2 in South Tyrol Why H 2 in South Tyrol? 850 Hydro power plants for electricity generation Most of the hydro power plants do not have reservoirs Nocturnal energy use? Today in South Tyrol 60% of energetic autarchy Till now: leak of possibilities for transport section Emission problems in cities and natural parks and alpine environmental => HYDROGEN

Hydrogen conclusions and premise for South Tyrol 1.) H 2 only from renewables 2.) Start with public transport as customer 3.) Realize all possible H 2 applications (incl. H 2 CNG) 4.) Use all by products (heat, O 2 ) 5.) Realize central lighthouse projects and decentralized turn key container solutions Set up international H 2 highway gap closing Involve opinion leader trough representative H 2 vehicles (considering their motivations) 1. H 2 in South Tyrol

2. Scope of IIT The IIT scope of work comprehends: Hydrogen technology Environmental technology Environmental protection Renewable energies Sustainable mobility Safety technology as non profit organization

2. Scope of IIT The activities includes: R&D projects Feasibility studies and regional concepts Realization and implementation of new and innovative technologies Realization and operation of prototypes, demonstration- and pilot- plants Function of regional competence center including instruction, formation an further education

Projects actually in work (part one): 5. Projects Realization of the first production and distribution plant for hydrogen from renewable energy sources at Bolzano, cooperation project with the Brenner Highway Company A22 Participation with 5 FC- buses and FC-cars at the JTI- FCH project CHIC clean hydrogen in European Cities Research project regarding the influence on emission spectrum due to blending hydrogen with natural gas in CNG- vehicles

Projects actually in work (part two): 5. Projects Implementation of a concept for mobility applications of hydrogen in South Tyrol, including cars and public buses Concept and realization of the hydrogen highway from Munich to Modena in cooperation with the Brenner Highway Company as part of the green corridor Feasibility study for the involvement and optimization of small and medium hydro power plants for production of green hydrogen

5. Projects Project: Influence on emission spectrum due to blending hydrogen with natural gas in CNG- vehicles Partner: local Bus operator, gas company (Ener.Go - Gruppo Sapio), Eco-Research, IIT; Project time: 2 years Objective: - use of different blends (10-30%) in vehicles - measurement of particulate and emissions (NOx, CO, CO 2, HC, etc.) due to modern online mass spectrometer Final scope: - Convert NG- buses into H 2 CNG buses - Reduction of particulate and emissions (NOx, CO 2 ) - Reach emission (particulate) without big changes in hardware - Enhance efficiency

6. The hydrogen project Bolzano Realization of the first plant for H 2 production and distribution from renewable energy sources in South Tyrol: First plant in Italy to serve a highway with hydrogen, first step of hydrogen axis Munich - Modena Refueling opportunity for public transport vehicles Refueling opportunity for passenger cars with H 2 and different vehicles with mixture H 2 /CNG Classification as European Lighthouse Project Demonstration site concept realized in ambitious appearance, offering guided tours for public and conference rooms

6. The hydrogen project Bolzano Imagine of the production site at Bolzano:

6. The hydrogen project Bolzano The Bolzano hydrogen technology park concept: H 2 - filling station (H 2 buses and cars) local Bus- depot Co-generation plant (H 2 -CNG/O 2 ) H 2 - production site Multienergy- filling station (H 2 CNGvehicles) Bolzano Industry Area

7. The JTI-FCH project CHIC JTI-FCH project CHIC: Clean Hydrogen in European Cities Key points: One of the main projects in the 2nd call in the JTI-FCH Large demonstration project for FC-buses and FC-cars Succession project of CUTE and HyFLEET:CUTE High visibility, nearly 80 Mio project / 6 years Five European Regions: London, Oslo, Bern, Milan/Torino, Bolzano At least 5 FC- buses per partner, 10 FC cars planned for Bolzano Intensive testing of technology: FC-buses and FC-cars Final step towards commercialization for buses and cars Enlarging hydrogen infrastructure Sustainability assessment (environmental, economic, social) Increased visibility and political commitment across Europe

8. The hydrogen highway project The Munich - Modena hydrogen highway concept: 650 km of highway, including a lateral corridor of 200 km production & distribution strategic distribution
