First ever round of Metro CERT Seed Grants Received 31 applications, totaling $268,331 Funded 9 projects, totaling $40,000 Total Energy Saved: 3.6 billion BTUs/year Total Energy Generated: 23,600 kwh/year Community impact: Tens of thousands of individuals, students and households touched through education, meetings, home visits and events!

4 Chisago Lakes Middle School: Project Independence Engage Chisago Lake students, community members and professionals in the installation of a 10kW solar array, which would serve as an educational tool and lower the school s carbon footprint. 5 City of Lakes Community Land Trust: Energy Efficient Homes Initiative Pilot Home Energy Rating System (HERS) program for homes purchased through the Community Land Trust. The HERS Index was used to rate the homes audited and rehabbed through this program New homeowner outside of her house, which received a HERS analysis through the initiative

6 District 10 Community Council: Como Home Energy Efficiency Project Neighborhood-based energy efficiency program with a goal of increasing knowledge about and energy savings among Como Park residents. CHEEP member Betti Iwanski layers up to keep warm in her home and keeps her electronics on power strips and outlet switches. CHEEP members meet to discuss energy saving steps they are taking in their homes

7 East Side Neighborhood Development Company East Side Building BLOCKS A Sustainable Redevelopment plan for St. Paul s East Side neighborhood, with a focus on energy conservation strategies and renewable energy sources. A visioning session with East Side residents An East Side business owner receives Energy Star certification for his business

8 Mahtomedi Area Green Initiative: Zephyr Wind Turbine Community-developed and school-owned wind turbine The Zerphyr Wind Turbine is up! MAGI Members at their turbine dedication event

9 Neighborhood Energy Connection: Home Energy Squad Outreach & Training Project Outreach in Saint Paul s Hmong Community to recruit participants for a residential energy efficiency program. 10 Women s Environmental Institute: Green Energy for Food Justice Urban farming project at Little earth of United Tribes, utilizing compost-and passive solar heated greenhouse to grow food for neighborhood residents.
