Dust Masks will be provided for the workers based on work area. One DG set of 25 kva will be provided at site. Low noise DG set (with noise absorbing enclosures) will be considered. DG set will be operated based on the operation activity i.e wire saw cutting and is not continuous operation. 3.0 NOISE ENVIRONMENT 3.1 SOURCES OF NOISE Noise produced from mining operations is not continuous. The levels of noise are different based on the activity workers are exposed to. Identified sources of noise from the mine are listed below. Drilling Operations Wire saw Cutting Operations Dressing Operations Machinery operation i.e Excavator, tipper movement and DG Set. 3.2 NOISE PROTECTION MEASURES Hearing protection devices (Ear plugs and ear muffs) will be provided to the drill machine operators and dumper drivers. Green belt will be developed all along the periphery of mine covering width of 7.5 m to act as barrier between core and buffer zones.
5 4.0 WATER ENVIRONMENT The areas which can have effect on water environment are listed below: Water Consumption Ground water level 4.1 WATER CONSUMPTION Water consumption in the mine is estimated to be about 15 KLD as detailed below in table. Source of water is from bore well/local purchase. WATER BALANCE (m 3 /day) Requirement Loss Wastewater Dust suppression Greenbelt Drinking Water Total The only wastewater generation from the Mine is from domestic use. Septic tank followed by soak pit will be provided for treating the domestic wastewater. 4.2 GROUND WATER LEVEL As per estimated mineral reserves vide Mining plan, the depth of mining will be upto 190m RL. Based on information collected from nearby borewells, the water table is at 30-40m RL. It is noted that the mining depth is above ground water level. Hence mining will not intersect ground water table. 5.0 LAND ENVIRONMENT The identified aspects which can cause impact due to mining operations on land environment are listed below. Landuse Solid waste generation Transportation Greenbelt Development
6 Area put on use at the start of plan (Ha.) Additional requiremen t during the plan Total (in Ha.) Area considered fully reclaimed and Net area considered for calculation 5.1 LANDUSE The category of the mining lease area is Patta. land and is occupied by boulders. No habitation within the mine lease area. Mine will be operated for 21 years and the land use pattern for next five year is as below: Sl. No. Head LANDUSE PATTERN (Ha.) Area under mining Nil Storage for top soil Overburden dump Nil Mineral storage/ Nil Infrastructure Nil Roads Nil Railways Green belt Nil Tailing pond Others SUB- TOTAL Virgin Area TOTAL Conceptually during mine closure mined out area will be backfilled with the waste generated during mining activity. Phased plantation will be taken up in the 7.5 m buffer zone. 5.2 SOLID WASTE GENERATION Solid waste generation from the mine in the next five years and for the life of mine is given below: SOLID WASTE GENERATION (m 3 ) Annual First Five years Waste 28,900 1,44,500
7 5.2.1 NATURE OF SOLID WASTE Solid waste is mainly waste rock. Total waste generation from mine during first five years is 1,44,500 m 3. A temporary dump yard is proposed in South Eastern direction of the Quarry lease area to accommodate the waste generated during the first five years of mine operation. The remaining waste quantity will be concurrently backfilled. The dump will be having ground footage periphery of m for which garland drain with check dam will be provided. A garland drain of 490 m length and 0.7m width is proposed. Depth of the drain will be designed such that gravity flow following the ground gradient profile will be considered with maximum depth of 0.5m (490 L x 0.7 W x 0.5 D in meters). Garland drain will be provided with sedimentation pits along the length and check dam at discharge end. 5.3 TRANSPORTATION WITHIN THE MINE Transportation activity within the mining lease area is mainly for transportation of waste rock by trucks from the mine pit to the dump yard. The length of the haulage road is approximately m and varies with progress/increase of mine area. Total waste generation from the mine is estimated to be about 1,44,500 m 3 for first five years period. A total of 8 trips are required for transport of the same. No impact due to truck plying is anticipated as the truck movement within the mining lease area is minimal OUTSIDE THE MINING LEASE AREA Transportation of Colour granite from the mining lease area will be through trucks. Considering annual production of 5100 m 3 /Annum of Colour Granite, maximum 2 trucks /day will be transported and the impact due to this transportation will be minimal.
