17 Catalogue of energy measures Sun Area: Solar energy potential of Osnabrück s roofs Information about the solar potantials are based on a project called Sun Area coordinated by the University of Osnabrück Citizens can see the adequacy of their own roofs for solar applications for free in the internet Osnabrück can decrease its electricity demand up to 20% Citizens do not have to apply for (expensive) energy consultancy services Up to 1,5 billion investment-volume could be generated roofs can produce around MWh electricity and can save t CO 2

20 Catalogue of energy measures Heat pump campaign in Birkenfeld district Demand (old heat pumps): 650 kwh / household * (~ 5,000 h runtime/a, 130 W) Electricity demand for 228 changed heat pumps: 185 MWh/a Savings: Highly efficient circulating pumps require max. 20% of the performance of conventional pumps Savings of ~ 150 MWh/a possible and about 67 tonnes of CO 2 Savings of ~ 45,000 (at an electricity price of 0.30 /kwh) Costs around 300 Old pump electricity costs: about 195 /a New pump electricity costs: about 39 /a Savings: about 156 /a New pumps have a return on investment period of about 2 years!
