Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Water Supply Engineering and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering Active participation and involvement in experimental research on managed aquifer recharge (MAR) systems for water and wastewater treatment and reuse (i.e. riverbank filtration (RBF), soil aquifer treatment (SAT), etc.) Five years experience in analysis of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus and indicators pathogens in water, wastewater and soils in the laboratory. Practical field experience in construction of buildings, pumping stations for irrigated projects, concrete dams, rock-fill dams, earth-fill dams, water treatment plants and water distribution systems. Practical knowledge on construction materials (cement, aggregate, rock and clay) testing in both field and laboratory according to ASTM and BS specifications. Practical knowledge on how to prepare terms of reference (ToR), tender documents and conduct feasibility studies for construction, water and environmental projects. Experience in research and project proposal writing, implementation and supervision. European Union TECHNEAU project training on natural systems for drinking water treatment, Delft, WORK EXPERIENCE: present: Ph.D. research fellow at UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education and Delft University of Technology, Delft, Exploring the use of a natural treatment system (soil aquifer treatment) for recharge and recovery of partially treated wastewater to close urban water cycle and alleviate stress on fresh water in developing countries. Authored and co-authored peer reviewed research articles published in international scientific journals and presented in international conferences : Assistant coordinator for southern Sudan hydropower projects, Dams Implementation Unit (DIU). Preparation of terms of reference (TOR) for new hydropower projects, tender documents. Participation in technical and financial evaluation of offers submitted by international consultancy and dams design firms and representation of the client in projects meetings and participation in field supervision teams : Soil laboratory Engineer, Lahmeyer International (LI) GmbH, Consulting Engineers, during the construction of Merowe dam project (450 km north Khartoum, 1250 MW). Sampling of Stockpiled materials from crushing and batching plants, clay borrow pit test pitting sampling, testing supervision in the laboratory and field according to (ASTM, BS and/or EM) standards for clay, filters and rock-fill materials. Furthermore, preparation of monthly report on QC/QA for stockpiles, field materials and calibration checks of soil laboratory equipment : Project Engineer/manager, Irrigation Works Corporation. Daily supervision daily construction works/site management to ensure proper execution of works. Coordination of project activities, including supervision of sub-contractors and materials suppliers to the site while organizing regular meetings with project consultants, subcontractors and other contractors working in the same area. Furthermore, Cost control by checking materials wastage, proper planning of man power, machinery for site activities and preparation of periodic reports and invoices for the executed works based on bill of quantities (BoQ). AWARDS: 1- Ph.D. scholarship recipient (the Netherlands, March 2010), NATSYS project, under the framework of UNESCO-IHE Partnership Research Fund (UPaRF). 2- M.Sc. scholarship recipient (USA, Washington, DC, October 2007) by the World Bank through Joint Japan/ World Bank Graduates Scholarship Program (jj/wbgsp). 3 TEACHING EXPERIENCE: April - October 2013: Supervision of M.Sc. research thesis carried out by Roman Vortisch from Dresden University of Technology (TU-Dresden, Germany), entitled: Effect of primary effluent using alum and ferric chloride on removal bulk organic matter, nutrients and pathogen indicators in a managed aquifer recharge system. Laboratory experiments were conducted at UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education. Delft, September 2013: Literature reading and literature review exercise. One day lecture given to M.Sc. students from urban water and sanitation and environmental science and technology as part of research methodology and proposal writing module. The use of MATLAB software to generate 3D fluorescence excitation-emission matrix (F- EEM) contour maps to discern between humic-, fulvic- and proteins-like NOM fractions was also elaborated.
