3 What is Biodiversity? According to Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), biological diversity means the variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems. The 3 pillars of CBD are: conservation of biological diversity sustainable use of its components fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources 3

4 Aim and Objectives IBBI serves as a national platform for businesses and its stakeholders for dialogue, sharing and learning, ultimately leading to mainstreaming sustainable management of biological diversity into businesses. Build awareness and capacity among businesses and its stakeholders on the conservation, restoration, regeneration and management of biological diversity Encourage businesses to commit to the IBBI Declaration Document, showcase and promote good business practices at national and international level Advocate public policies at national and international level by engaging with governments and other key stakeholders 4
